LYDGATE JUNIOR SCHOOL

We are extremely proud to be a Rights Respecting School with a broad and rich curriculum which we truly believe enables our children to learn and grow to be the best they can be. It is our ambition that all our children will thrive at Lydgate Junior School and beyond... We have a school-wide system of explicitly teaching spelling, using phonics, etymology and morphology, introducing new spellings and working on them little and often in three 20-minute spelling sessions per week. Children who require additional support with spelling and phonics make access phonics support (using the Little Wandle school) or may work in small targeted spelling intervention groups... We believe that reading feeds into writing and use a wide range of high quality and diverse reading materials to inspire writing.
