Amy E. Kuhlman

Expertise: Amy's practice focuses on transactional work, including the establishment of 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations, estate planning and administration, and labor and employment related issues. Amy is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. Amy is a graduate of Ohio Dominican University, class of 1999, with a degree in Political Science. She is a graduate of Capital University Law School, class of 2006, where she received the CALI Award of Excellence as Top Student in the General Practice Section.

Christopher E. Hogan

Expertise Christopher E. Hogan is an AV-rated attorney who assists both public and private employers across the country in all manner of matters, including executive and staff employment matters, board and staff training, governance, and internal investigations. Hogan is a past-Chair of the Columbus Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Committee and is certified as a Specialist in Labor and Employment Law by the Ohio State Bar Association. He is also consistently designated a "Super Lawyer" in Labor and Employment Law by Law and Politics Magazine. Hogan also has extensive experience dealing with labor unions, including union avoidance, negotiating and administering contracts, unfair labor practices, fact finding and conciliation, handling grievances, and trying arbitrations. Hogan also represents public and private educational institutions across the country in faculty, staff and student matters, including compliance matters involving FERPA, Title IX, the Clery Act, and DOE/DOL audits. Hogan has particular experience with churches and church-related institutions.

D. Wesley Newhouse

Expertise: Wes is an experienced litigator, having handled a wide range of civil and administrative cases. He has tried cases and handled hearings in most of the state and federal courts in Ohio, and in courts in several other states. He has also appeared before numerous administrative agencies. He also advises clients regarding business and real estate transactions and contracts. Many of his clients are small, closely-held businesses and not-for-profit organizations.

Michael S. Kolman

Expertise: Michael is an experienced litigator having tried approximately ten jury trials in addition to numerous bench trials. He has represented both employers and employees in cases involving sex, race, religion, and disability discrimination; sexual harassment; whistle blower; retaliation; and employer intentional tort in both state and federal courts. He tried one of the first sexual harassment cases and HIV discrimination cases in Central Ohio. He has also successfully represented clients before various administrative agencies including the Ohio Personnel Board of Review, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Ohio Civil Rights Commission, Unemployment Compensation, Municipal Civil Service Commissions, and pre-disciplinary hearings before state and county agencies. Michael has advised employers on human resources issues in order to avoid liability related to employment decisions. Michael also has extensive experience handling a variety of disputes involving business issues. He has been involved in cases regarding partnership dissolutions, breach of contract, business transaction fraud claims, forced receivership actions, consumer law claims, commercial leases and franchise agreements; and defalcation matters. Michael handled litigation involving election law issues, environmental abatement issues, RICO actions, personal injury, and misdemeanor criminal actions, and represents lawyers in professional liability/legal malpractice matters. Michael is a member of the Columbus Bar Association, Ohio State Bar Association and DRI. He is a past member of the National Employment Lawyers Association. Michael completed his undergraduate studies at the Pennsylvania State University where he was awarded his degree with high distinction in Industrial Arts Education in 1975. He earned a Master's degree in Urban Studies from the Southern Connecticut State University in 1977. He is a 1981 graduate of the Ohio State College of Law. Michael has served as an invited speaker regarding employment law issues at several seminars, including the National Employment Lawyers Association CLE Seminar, Columbus Bar Association Brown Bag Luncheon, and Peoples Law Center of Upper Arlington, Ohio; and has been active in various organizations sponsoring activities for his children.

Philip R. Moots

Mr. Moots served as Director of the Center for Constitutional Studies and Associate Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame from 1977-81. He served as Executive Assistant to the Governor of the state of Ohio from 1972-75, and from 1972 to 1977 was Adjunct Professor at the College of Law, The Ohio State University
