Pilates is a form of exercise which combines trunk or core stability with flowing movements, co-ordination and balance. Most of the equipment uses springs and these can be used either to assist you in a movement or to provide some resistance. There are a variety of springs, giving different strength and resistance. This means it is very easy to grade exercise, so that a patient is always working at a level appropriate for them. Pilates is perfect for rehabilitating all sorts of injuries. It is also very portable; the skills you learn in the Pilates studio really can transfer to every day movements.
