Alan Carvell

Alex Morris

Job Titles:
  • Trainee Land Surveyor
Alex joined us in November 2018 as an Apprentice Surveying Technician. Alongside completing a Level 3 Construction & the Built Environment course at College, he aspires to become a land surveyor because of his passion for geomatics and topography. Alex has several hobbies including fly fishing which has earnt him 3 caps and he achieved top angler in England in 2017. Alex also played for Shrewsbury town for 4 years. Alex was promoted to Trainee land surveyor in March 2020. Alex has recently passed the second year of the Chartered Building Surveying Degree course

Alex Pammenter

Job Titles:
  • Trainee Building Surveyor
Alex joined us in November of 2018 on an apprenticeship. Prior to this he gained level 1&2 City and Guilds qualified plumber. He has a keen interest in Construction and surveying and is attending Shrewsbury College once a week to obtain Level 3 Construction & the Built Environment. Alex has aspirations of becoming a Quantity Surveyor or Building Surveyor and is currently gaining experience with both. Alex played for Telford Raiders Rugby League for 4 years, enjoys astronomy and travel. Alex was promoted to Trainee building surveyor March 2020. Alex has recently passed the second year of the Chartered Building Surveying Degree course

Alison Baker

Alison joined us in March 2019 as she was looking for a new challenge after working in the Social Housing sector for over 10 Years. Alison has experience in planned and reactive maintenance of domestic properties, aids and adaptation work, stock condition surveying and is an accredited DEA Assessor. Alison also has experience in managing service contracts. Alison has successfully completed a HNC Building Studies course and continued her studies and will complete a BSc Hons Degree in Building Surveying in Summer 2019.

Alistair Jones

Job Titles:
  • Mechanical Engineer
Prior to joining Shropshire Council in 2010 Alistair was head of a building services design consultancy in London for 16 years. He originally trained as an architect at the RIBA School of Architecture, Hanley, but switched to building services design after joining the Percy Thomas Partnership, Britain's third largest architectural practice. He became head of public health, and eventually all engineering services for 16 years. He gained a City & Guilds qualification in building services, a BSc in mechanical engineering, a diploma in field archaeology, and another in marketing professional services "ASTEL" from Aston University. He is familiar with design of all forms of mechanical and public health services, including for hospitals, hotels, laboratories and also five-facet appraisals of hospitals on behalf of NHS Estates. Alistair keeps fit walking, cycling (completed coast to coast in 2008), and enjoys pre-war music, old cars and baking.

Amy Clowes

Amy joined us in May 2021 as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor after working for another local authority and private practice. Gaining experience in retail fitouts, capital replacement works and new builds. Amy is due to complete her BSc Quantity Surveying Degree in Summer 2021 and has been enrolled to start her APC chartership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Amy's main hobbies include going to weekly Pilates classes, travelling and cooking.

Andy Cooper

Andy joined us in March 2022 after 18 years as a carpenter, working on all sorts of projects from heritage work to new builds and extensions. For the last 8 years he has also been a site manager on various building projects. He now wishes to work towards improving his technical knowledge of the building industry.

Bethan Meredith

Job Titles:

Bethan returned to PSG in May 2021 after a three year period working within the private sector. She completed an MA in Historic Building Conservation at the University of Birmingham in 2014, having previously graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) Building Surveying from Liverpool John Moores University in 2012. Bethan's passion lies in historic buildings and has consulted for the National Trust on a number of projects, but generally likes to take on projects which allow her to be creative and provide better spaces for the people of Shropshire to live, work and study in.

Chris King

Chris joined the finance team in 2016 after relocating to Shropshire from Hampshire, where she had worked in a secondary school for many years. She is enjoying being part of a vibrant, hard-working team and relishes the challenges and rewards this brings.

Daniel Davies

Job Titles:
  • Building Surveyor
Daniel joined PSG in 2016 after almost a decade as a building surveyor with a Welsh local authority; he has extensive experience in the housing, commercial and educational sectors having worked for many years on a wide portfolio of buildings. He graduated with a degree in history and spent several years working in the private sector, before completing an MSc in surveying and changing the direction of his career. Daniel's industry knowledge is supplemented by his interest in the historic environment; this includes gaining an MSc in the conservation of historic buildings and several years' experience working with historic buildings and monuments.

Daron Lewis

Daron joined Shropshire Council as a building surveyor in 2003, after working for 16 years in private practice for Percy Thomas Partnership, Eaton Manning & Wilson, Pooks Building Surveying Team, and Munro Associates. Originally Daron trained as an architectural technician, and obtained a diploma and HNC in building studies at Shrewsbury College of Arts & Technology, later gaining a BSc honours degree in building surveying at the University of Central England. Daron has experience in the residential, housing association, commercial, light-industrial, historic and educational sectors, and is involved in a broad range of projects including alterations, refurbishments, extension and new-build projects, which he designs and project manages. Daron is also involved with facilitating condition surveys, dilapidations, planned and reactive maintenance, and out-of-hours cover for emergency repairs.

Darren Milner

Job Titles:
  • Assistant Land Surveyor
Darren joined the group in September 2015 following a ten-year period as a land surveyor/highway engineer in the private sector. He is currently undertaking the TSA surveying course at The Survey School in Worcester, having previously completed a HNC in civil engineering and an NVQ in the use of IT. Darren is responsible for maintaining and updating drawing records across our property portfolio, as well as assisting the team and our clients with other land survey and design services. He has extensive experience in the use of drawing and modelling software, including AutoCAD, REVIT, MX & Microstation.

Dominic Evans

Job Titles:

Dominic started working for the council in 2006 where he started in the building design group team as a CAD assistant. In 2018 he was promoted to building surveyor after passing his HNC in construction. Dominic also has other qualifications; City and Guilds level 3 in Autocad and a national certificate in construction. For the last 12 months he has been carrying out training sessions in Autodesk Revit.

Donna Guillemette

Donna is the Facilities Support Assistant based at Shirehall and works part time predominantly dealing with room bookings, FM group emails along with room booking recharges for Shirehall and youth centres.

Emma Lant

Emma joined the admin team in August 2015, after eight years working in the council's finance department. Emma was promoted to her current post in April 2022, and she manages a variety of service contracts, ensuring that client's routine maintenance checks are carried out and meet the current regulations. Emma also prepares tender documents and awarding of contracts. Emma has an NVQ level 2 and 3 in business administration, and is currently undertaking level 4. She is also keen to assist the team in developing new skills, to ensure our clients continue to receive the best possible service.

Gavin Curley

Job Titles:
  • Statutory Compliance Officer - Asbestos & Legionella
Gavin joined PSG in August 2021 following 8 years working for a Social Housing Landlord. Initially managing the required duties under the CAR 2012 asbestos regulations, then more recently taking on responsibility for the management of Legionella compliance across the housing portfolio for his previous employer. Gavin has a degree in Environmental Science and followed this up with part time study at Wolverhampton University to gain a HNC in Building Studies. He holds the P402 (Surveying) and P405 (Management) asbestos qualifications and has completed the IOSH accredited Legionella Control for Property Management & Legionella Management for Responsible Persons courses.

Harvey Gould

Job Titles:
  • Senior Architectural Technologist
Harvey has worked within the construction industry and local government for over 25 years. Having previously been with Shrewsbury Borough Council he joined Shropshire Council in 2009. Harvey has gained experience across a wide range of work from the housing, commercial, historic and educational sectors. He continues to be involved in project work, as well as performing building surveyor duties within the team.

Hattie Lewis

Hattie has worked for the Council since 2014, before joining PSG in January 2022. She is enjoying working in an extremely friendly and approachable team. Hattie is currently studying for her AATs, having already completed level 2, she is now studying level 3.

Helen Hale

Helen began her administration career in the Women's Royal Army Corps. After moving back to Shropshire and initially working for private property consultants, she joined the council in 2004. Helen thoroughly enjoys managing the Business Support team and takes an active part in improving processes and procedures along with developing the business. She is a Prince 2 Practitioner, has an NVQ level 3 in Business Administration and Digital Marketing and Level 4 in Management. Helen is a keen triathlete, and a member of SYTri (Shrewsbury Triathlon Club) and Amphibian Coaching, and regularly takes part in events across the country.

Ian Pengilly

Job Titles:
  • Mechanical Surveyor
Ian joined PSG in January 2016 as a mechanical surveyor, having been a company director for a commercial heating and plumbing company for the ten years. Ian has been in the construction industry for over 37 years, mainly working for local government and health authorities, gaining a large wealth of experience in the mechanical industry. He is a qualified engineer in commercial gas, steam, heating, plumbing and ventilation services. He is an enthusiastic mechanical surveyor, working collaboratively to ensure that the highest standard of quality and workmanship is achieved for all projects, offering advice and support to clients and contractors.

Jennifer Harrower

Job Titles:
  • Area Facilities Officer
Jennifer joined the council in 2010 and is the Area Facilities Officer South. Before this she spent 20 years working abroad, mainly in Germany. She has passed the Prince Foundation Course in project management and has a level 4 in Leadership and Management.

Jess Tinkler

Job Titles:
  • Business Support Assistant
Jess starting working for Shropshire Council in 2013 before moving to PSG in November 2015. She currently provides help desk and email support to clients ensuring they receive a quick, friendly and efficient resolution to any repairs and maintenance issues. She also looks after the Contractors Approved List, Frameworks and organises the portable appliance testing for buildings across the county. Prior to joining Shropshire Council Jess completed a three year degree at Wolverhampton University in Sociology and Criminal Justice achieving a First Class Honours degree.

John Craven

Job Titles:

Prior to joining Shropshire Council in 2021, John was a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer at various practices for over 15 years. He entered into the industry via an apprenticeship for a major MEP Contractor. From there he switched to a pure Consultancy Role where he gained ACIBSE and Low Carbon Consultant recognition. He has worked on a wide range of projects, from Hospitals to Schools to Laboratories etc. John keeps fit walking, cycling and enjoys blues music.

Joyce Brisbane

Joyce has worked at Shropshire Council for 15 years, and joined the Business Support Team in March 2019. She enjoys cooking and reading in her spare time.

Julie Lutwyche

Julie has moved over from Facilities Management to manage the contract maintenance team. Julie's past experience of managing service contracts will be a great benefit to the service we provide.

Karl Jukes

Karl is the morning/afternoon Shirehall Assistant who unlocks the building every morning, ensures building is statutory compliant, replenishes washroom supplies, deals with all building related issues including a multitude of other issues that comes FM's way.

Katie Travis

Job Titles:
  • Contract Maintenance Officer
Katie has been with the local authority since March 2013, initially working with the HR team, and joining PSG in January 2014 as contracts maintenance assistant. Katie administers various maintenance contracts, as well as preparing tender documents and awarding of the contracts. Katie was promoted to contract maintenance officer in September 2015, and oversees many service contracts and ensures clients' routine maintenance checks are carried out to meet current regulations. Katie has NVQ level 3 in business administration and is working towards a level 4, and has also passed the PRINCE2 foundation course for effective project management. Outside of work, family is Katie's main focus; she loves baking and spending time her girls, and the variety this bring to her life.

Lucy Cowdell

Lucy joined us after working at another local authority, gaining experience in Housing Development Regeneration schemes and new builds. Lucy has had over 7 years' Local Authority experience within various teams, Human Resources, Licensing, Environmental Health & Trading Standards and Housing Development. During this time Lucy completed two apprenticeships completing her Level 2 and 3 in business admin. Lucy's main hobbies include travelling, reading books, listening to podcasts, and spending time walking her dog.

Lucy Fletcher

Lucy joined us in June 2019 as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor after working for another Local Authority and several Private Practices. Lucy has over 10 year's experience in Quantity Surveying and has experience across a wide range of sectors such as Housing, Education, Leisure, Health and Commercial Projects. Lucy recently gained the Professional Qualification of MRICS. In her spare time Lucy enjoys coaching and playing netball and golf.

Luke Blakeway

Luke joined PSG in 2015 as an electric surveyor, having begun his working life as an electronics repair technician. He also worked as an electrical maintenance engineer for the health service before progressing to maintenance supervisor. Luke studied part time for his degree in electrical engineering at Staffordshire University, which he obtained in 2013. Since joining PSG he has been involved in a wide variety of electrical refurbishment projects which he designs and project manages. With his background in maintenance, Luke is actively involved with planned preventative maintenance contract specification development, and performance monitoring. Luke prides himself on having a very strong attention to detail in his approach. Luke was promoted to Team Leader M&E Surveyor in March 2020.

Mariza Picardo-Jones

Mariza has worked for Shropshire Council since 2019, starting off in the Payment Department and joined PSG as a Finance Assistant. Mariza's first job in England was at Sainsbury Bank where she worked for 6 years and then had a short spell at a local restaurant (KFC) as a Finance Assistant. Mariza completed a degree in Economics and has completed Level 2 AAT and is currently completing Level 3.

Martin Ellis

Job Titles:
  • Senior Architectural Technologist
Martin is a qualified chartered architectural technologist (MCIAT) having become a full member of CIAT in 2013. He completed an MSc in commercial building surveying at Liverpool John Moores University in 2005, having previously graduated with a BA honours degree at Keele University. Since joining the local authority in 2007 he has gained experience as contract administrator and project manager on both traditional JCT and NEC contract types respectively. Additionally, as part of Premises Services' multi-disciplinary surveying team, he is involved with facilitating planned and reactive maintenance works. Martin is an ‘Autodesk-accredited professional' recognising his abilities in building information modelling, and also holds a Prince2 practitioner qualification in project management. Martin was promoted to a Senior in March 2018.

Matt Jordan

Matt started his career with the MOD as an electronics engineer before moving into Facilities Maintenance in 1998. Matt joined us in July 2022 as Facilities Manager. Matt completed his Advanced Energy Managers course in 2014 and has spent a significant part of his career dedicated to providing energy saving solutions. Matt also holds a Postgraduate certificate in Management studies and Organisational change.

Matthew Venables

Matthew joined us in September 2020 as a Senior Building Surveyor, after working for another Local Authority for many years as a building surveyor/architectural technologist. After completing his BSc (hons) degree in Building Surveying, Matthew has over 20 years' experience in the construction sector, designing and leading on many successfully completed alterations, refurbishments and new build schemes within the domestic, education, healthcare and local authority sectors ranging up to £3.5 million in value. Over the years Matthew has used various building techniques from traditional methods to modern structural insulated panels including using Passivhaus Principles with careful detailing to minimise thermal bridging and achieve highly efficient/air tight buildings to meet the client's needs. In his spare time Matthew is a keen motorsport enthusiast and competitor, having competed in various rallies over the years as an expert navigator/co-driver and has also driven in a few events. He has competed in various regional championships, winning class awards and gaining many trophies and silverware along the way.

Nathan Davies

Nathan joined PSG in 2017 as a trainee surveyor, after ten years as an electrical site foreman. He has recently completed his city and guilds course on design and verification of electrical systems and is now studying a HNC in building services at Liverpool City College, which he hopes to complete by 2019. Nathan has recently been promoted to Electrical Surveyor. Nathan uses his onsite experience to assist him with the design and supervision of various electrical projects across his north Shropshire schools. Nathan is an keen sportsman and is hoping to complete a triathlon soon. Nathan was promoted to Senior Electrical Surveyor in March 2020.

Patrick is the Area Facilities Officer Central based at Shirehall provides FM support for Shirehall, 1a Castle Gates, Louise House, Mount McKinley, Ptarmigan, Sunflower House and the Lantern all located within the Shrewsbury area.

Paul Friswell

Paul joined the PSG team in 2018 as a Building Surveyor. He has over thirty years' of eclectic experience within the construction and property industry. Since qualifying as a Carpenter and Joiner he has developed and managed his own bespoke joinery and construction business specialising in the building, design and repair of traditional and historic buildings, particularly oak timber frame and vernacular buildings in and around South Shropshire. He graduated from Reading University with a first class BSc (Hons) degree in Building Surveying and is an accredited Domestic Energy Assessor. As a holder of the Diploma in Home Inspection, Paul has been producing the SAVA Home Condition Survey for homebuyers which has been his speciality for the past ten years. He lives in South Shropshire and enjoys playing competitive golf and has a passion for chalk stream trout fishing.
