As Orange County's first day care program exclusively devoted to treating people with dementia, we have a long and proven track record of helping Alzheimer's patients and their families successfully cope with the many challenges of memory loss... In addition to our day care programs for dementia patients, we provide much-needed respite, support and resources for family caregivers... AFC was founded in 1980 by Dr. Dan Sands, a young psychologist with a pioneering vision to encourage happier and healthier days for older adults affected by memory loss. Five years later, AFC became one of California's first Alzheimer's Day Care Resource Centers, as the program grew into a state-of-the-art, dementia-specific center affiliated with the Hoag Neurosciences Institute.
