VETCOR - Key Persons
Dr. Carly McDonald grew up in Southern Ontario, Canada. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Animal Biology from the University of Guelph. In 2015, she began her veterinary school education at St. George's University. She completed her year of clinical training at Cornell University and has called the Ithaca region home ever since.
From the moment Dr. McDonald could talk as a very young child, she told everyone she met that she would one day be a veterinarian, and she has worked in the veterinary field since she was 16. When she isn't at the clinic, Dr. McDonald enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, jetskiing, snowmobiling, and motocross with her significant other and their pitbull-mix Ryder.
Dr. Thomas Gill, our Chief of Staff, is a graduate of Hamilton College and the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating from veterinary college in 1984, Dr. Gill worked in mixed animal practices in Lebanon, PA, and Syracuse, NY, before moving to Cayuga County in 1988. Brookside Veterinary Clinic originated out of Dr. Gill's home and eventually moved to its present facilities in Auburn in 1996. Dr. Gill has a particular interest in small animal surgery.
Family plays an important part in Dr. Gill's life as he is one of eight children and has seven children of his own with his wife Ceceila; obviously the Gill household is very active and just a little bit noisy! Other members of the Gill family include a shih tzu, two cats, a horse, a cow and several chickens. Dr. Gill loves to spend time reading, traveling, dreaming about traveling, and spending time with his family.
