The intestinal microbiota is comprised of the many microorganisms that occupy the gut, performing physiologically important roles in health and disease. Disruption of the structure and function of the intestinal microbiota is increasingly implicated in a variety of complicated chronic illnesses, including recurrent Clostridium difficile infection, inflammatory bowel disease, obesity, Type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome,... Our program has leveraged the previous experience and ongoing collaborative research of our teams to create a unique multidisciplinary FMT research program.
