Braeden Maaka

Job Titles:

Braeden joined the engineering team in 2021 as a graduate from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering. Braeden has been busy supporting the Building Envelope team, providing construction monitoring and quality assurance testing on sites throughout New Zealand. Braeden enjoys the challenge of taking on new knowledge and experience from the Kaizon Engineering team and is eager to further diversify his insights into the industry. Besides work, Braeden remains active during the week and spends as much time as possible with friends and family on his time off.

Casey Mack

Job Titles:
  • Engineer
  • Engineer, Building Envelopes
Casey has close to four years of experience in the design, investigation, and rehabilitation of building envelope and facade systems for major commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. His project experience has an emphasis in building science, including thermal and hygrothermal modelling of building envelope systems. Casey is a licensed engineer in the United States (California) and has moved to New Zealand to join the Kaizon team. He looks forward to applying his industry knowledge to aid in the construction of critical infrastructure in New Zealand. In his spare time, Casey enjoys applying his problem-solving skills in his physical endeavors through his bouldering and rock climbing both in the gym and outdoors.

Dinul Cooray

Eliza Walker

With a background in administration and marketing across diverse workplaces that include cinema software, residential construction, and agency experience; Eliza is a skilled multitasker in a workplace. She enjoys breaking down and learning new challenges with the outcome being that she can look to extend and better support the business leaders at Kaizon.

Guyon Lang

Job Titles:
  • Graduate Quantity Surveyor
Guyon joined Kaizon in 2022 and has had experience in residential and commercial projects. Guyon has experience in preliminary estimates for commercial and residential projects. He holds a Masters of Science in Optometry and Vision Science and is currently still working on his New Zealand Diploma in Construction (Quantity Surveying) due to complete at the end of 2022. Guyon relishes the opportunity to learn new skills and enjoys having a hands-on approach to work tasks. He is finding each learning aspect and challenge an enjoyable task both in class and at work.

Iris Tse

Job Titles:

Iris joined the Quantity Surveying Team in 2022 and she has been assisting the team on multiple projects ranging from bank QS, ETC, and project QS services. She holds a Master of Arts in Education and is currently in the final stage of completing a Diploma in Quantity Surveying, expected completion by end of 2022. Iris thrives working in a diverse and challenging environment. She believes that a high level of integrity, close collaboration, good communication, flexibility, and organisation are critical components to achieving the best results. Izaac Bailey

Izaac joined us from AUT in mid-2022, where he completed his master's thesis specialising in the manufacture of laminated glass with electric inserts. Since joining the building envelope team Izaac has had exposure to a variety of projects where he can apply his passion for materials science and computational analysis.

Jon Robinson

Job Titles:

Jon's professional background includes façade, structural & civil engineering on projects throughout the UK and NZ. Jon focussed on façade engineering when he moved to NZ in 2008, and he has applied a continual high level of technical excellence in innovative technology and design in his work. He has worked on some of NZ's most eminent façade projects and brings a depth of experience and knowledge of the design and construction of complex façade and lightweight structural systems. Jon applies and develops computational techniques to assist and augment the team's creative engineering processes. These techniques allow complex architectural and engineering problems to quickly and more accurately be tested against design parameters. Computational design is an exciting and ever-changing space, enabling optimisations and insights to project stakeholders. Jon has applied these techniques on a broad range of applications ranging from structural finite element analysis and solar/ thermal studies to computational fluid design. Jon is a Chartered Professional engineer with Engineering New Zealand (CPEng (structural)), a Member of the Society of Facade Engineering (MSFE) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with CIBSE (UK)

Jonathan Hill

Jon has over fourteen years of experience in the design, investigation, and construction contract administration of building enclosure and façade systems for major commercial, healthcare, educational, and residential buildings. He has overseen major projects in the USA and in New Zealand that have encompassed waterproofing consulting (including roofs, plaza areas, and below-grade spaces), as well as the design and evaluation of façade and building enclosure components, both standard and customised. Over the last five years, his focus has been on the New Zealand industry, working to introduce methodology and resources proven in similar environments, including seismic-prone California (USA). Committed to using innovative methods to solve problems, Jon focuses on integrating the design, performance analysis, fabrication, and construction of building enclosures. He applies his focus on performance-based design to projects all types including investigation, remediation, or new design.

Kayla Salmon

Kayla graduated in 2018 with a Civil Engineering degree and has experience in building envelope design, investigation, rehabilitation, and construction administration. She specializes in heritage buildings and is involved with the Association of Preservation Technology (APT). Kayla has worked on a range of projects including commercial, high-rise, residential, educational, and government buildings all over the United States. In her career, she has consulted on the design and construction of waterproofing systems encompassing walls, fenestration, below-grade, and roofs. Kayla is excited to join the Kaizon team in Auckland and further her understanding of international construction. For fun, Kayla enjoys playing volleyball, hiking, reading, and making ceramics.

Kevin Raives

Kevin has nearly six years of experience in the design, investigation, and rehabilitation of building enclosure and façade systems for major commercial, residential, and institutional buildings. His recent project experience includes consulting with architects, contractors, and building owners in both the design and investigation of below-grade tanking, contemporary cladding and curtain walls, and roofing systems. Kevin recently moved from the USA to bring his experience managing projects and producing technical design and construction administration work to the New Zealand industry.

Kuban Padayachee

  • Senior Quantity Surveyor
Kuban is a quantity surveyor with experience in the preparation of estimates and bills of quantities, contract administration and procurement management, cost planning and cash flow forecasting, and claims and dispute resolution. His professional background includes working on projects in commercial, stadium, hospitality, healthcare, education and warehousing in South Africa and New Zealand. Kuban has solid analytical aptitude with organisational and problem-solving management skills. Having worked for a multi-disciplinary organisation, Kuban has managed projects in facilities and consulting services. In new Zealand, Kuban has gained experience in contracting, managing a significant number of subcontractors of various trades.

Larissa Wilson

Larissa studied mechanical engineering at the University of Canterbury and worked in acoustic engineering for several years before joining the Kaizon engineering team in 2022. Since joining the team, Larissa has had the opportunity to work on a range of innovative projects and enjoys the puzzle solving required during the design process. Larissa also brings experience in assessing acoustic performance and control throughout a range of Kaizon projects. Lucy Adams

Lucy joined the engineering team in 2019 as a graduate from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering. Since joining the team, Lucy has had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, building her experience in the design, investigation, and remediation of building envelope systems by consulting with architects and contractors. She is passionate about bringing innovation to her projects and thinking outside the square in order to exceed her client's expectations. In her spare time, Lucy enjoys spending time with family and friends or being up the mountain on a snowboard.

Matthew Sanders - Managing Director

Moegammad Soeker

Moegammad is an experienced practitioner who has provided QS services ranging from residential, commercial, industrial as well as refurbishment projects for clients in South African, UK & New Zealand. Having been in the New Zealand construction industry since 2011/ his experience has been with main contractors working predominantly on social housing projects for Kainga Ora (formally HNZC) and CORT where he fulfilled the role of QS from pre contract to settlement of final accounts with the client and sub contractors. Moegammad has experience in cost planning, value engineering, financial administration. He has also done a lot of pre-construction estimates ranging from preliminary design to detailed design as well as providing detailed schedule of quantities for numerous projects in New Zealand. Sophie Hogan

Sophie is currently studying towards her Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Materials Engineering at the University of Auckland and is joining the engineering team as an intern for the 2022/23 summer. She is looking forward to getting a taster of what both the fire and building envelope engineering teams do and is excited to absorb as much knowledge and gain as much practical experience as she can during her time at Kaizon. Outside of work Sophie enjoys getting outdoors and exercising, whether it be running, swimming, cycling, or hiking, and also loves to bake and cook.

Thys de Wet

Thys's professional background includes the full suite of quantity surveying services on projects covering residential, commercial, hospitality, convention, gaming, healthcare, education, industrial and exhibitions throughout South Africa, Namibia, Angola, Seychelles and NZ. Thys has also been able to use his experience in strategic reporting and data base compilation to enable his clients and employers to make critical decisions with pin point accuracy. Thys is passionate about implementing the latest technology in the quantity surveying profession and has been on a journey of understanding with coding structures used across the globe to compile a standard approach to be linked to a future objects library to be shared across the industry. Thys is also a member of the NZIQS BIM committee and is an advocate for industry standardisation in the application of this technology on construction projects to enable clients to realise the benefits of having a digital twin of their projects for future use in the facilities management sphere of the project life cycle. In his free time you will find Thys enjoying the company of his wife and two sons exploring New Zealand's beautiful nature. Vasu Murugesan

Vasu is an experienced QS practitioner who has provided QS services for over 14 years for the clients ranging from high-rise residential, commercial structures in India, township development project in Oman, custom design residential projects in New Zealand, and as well as minor infrastructures, Oil & Gas projects in UAE. Prior to joining Kaizon, Vasu had gained the Kiwi- Built Environment experience working for a residential builder in west Auckland, where he was responsible for successfully managing 40+ unique projects from design stage till handover, involving estimations, contract management, subcontractor vetting and pre & post tender QS'ing tasks. Vasu earned an MSc degree in Quantity Surveying from The University Of Salford, Manchester, UK and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, India. Currently he is on the path to become a full member of NZIQS.
