Aaron J. Kilgo

Mr. Kilgo has worked in the planning field doing subdivision and land development reviews. Aaron used GIS systems on a daily basis to produce maps and complete other various projects. Currently Aaron's strong computer skills enable him to contribute to a wide variety of assignments. These include producing maps exhibits, three dimensional models, cross sections and various tasks supporting Kaufman Engineering clients. Brian C. Traweek

Brian Traweek has mining engineering experience in industrial minerals, coal, and copper. He has completed mine plans for every stage of mining, from initial financial feasibility, to permitting, to mine operations planning, to reclamation and final post-mining land use. His mine planning experience has ranged from weekly production shift operations planning and individual blast pattern design, to life-of-mine plans. Brian's previous experience in an operations environment provides him with a field practicality perspective in his problem solving approach. Beyond mine planning, Brian has specific extensive experience in erosion & sedimentation control design and permitting, and in water treatment. Experience Mining Engineer Kaufman Engineering, Inc. 2008 to Present Mr. Traweek develops mine plans for mining operations in a variety of commodities and scales, from permitting support for sub-5-acre private quarries, to large-scale long-range mine planning for multi-million ton-per-year mining operations.

Brian W. Kaufman - VP

Mr. Kaufman has a strong background in landscape architecture, urban design, site planning and residential community planning. Brian has exceptional conceptualization, illustration, graphic communication, and design skills. He also has a strong computer illustration and modeling skills that bring a unique presentation to a wide variety of assignments. In addition, his project management and problem solving abilities have allowed Brian to make substantial contributions to Kaufman Engineering clients. Experience Kaufman Engineering, Inc. - 1997 - Present Current Position: Vice President Most recently, Brian has been serving as the project manager on the Taylor Colliery Redevelopment project. This brownfield / grayfield project will dramatically transform over 150 acres of former anthracite coal mines and related support areas into a mixed use redevelopment of commercial, office, residential use. These uses will be surrounded and connected by reclaimed open green space which comes in stark contrast with the propertys current condition. Currently, this redevelopment and reclamation project enjoys tremendous local and governmental support. The development value has been estimated at + $115,000,000 and is projected to create 255 full time jobs when completed. Mr. Kaufman is also involved in an unprecedented demonstration project which involves planting various types of native trees and shrubs on a Pennsylvania landfill. The findings of this ongoing experiment are so promising that one day they may transform landfill design and possibly the publics perception of landfills in general. Over the past ten years Brian has spent a substantial amount of time and effort studying the aesthetics of various engineering projects. These efforts have led Brian to developed unique strategies in approaching and communicating design ideas to other professionals, members of the public and regulators. These efforts have yielded many unique solutions to complex problems. Mr. Kaufman is also currently providing assistance with construction implementation, mine and reclamation planning on several large earth moving projects across the country. LDR INTERNATIONAL, COLUMBIA, MD. - January 1996 to May 1997 Positions Held: Associate - January 1996 to May 1997 Brian worked with LDR (Land, Design, Research) as a project manager and team member on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Improvement Study (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) and the Harborpark Redevelopment (Kenosha, Wisconsin). His leadership and skills earned him additional responsibilities on significant assignments including urban design and residential redevelopment projects.

Chad Drzewiecki

Mr. Drzewiecki has a diverse background in Geology and GIS (as well as other mapping systems and techniques). His educational background along with his field experience allows him to perform a variety of complex tasks and provide effective solutions. Mr. Drzewiecki has worked in a variety of disciplines dealing with issues related to mining, such as field geologic investigation (exploratory drilling, field mapping, etc.), reserve studies/technical writing, map development and interpretation, aerial photography/photogrammetry, as well as aiding in quarry planning. He also has experience in various GIS applications in industries unrelated to mining. Experience Kaufman Engineering, Inc. - June 2012 - Present (May 2011 - Aug 2011 Internship) Current Position: GIS Specialist/Geologist Responsibilities as a GIS Specialist/Geologist include development of digital quarry models through the use of aerial photogrammetry, contour generation, associated volumetric calculations, surface map production, historical mine map/air photo Georeferencing and interpretation, as well as creating and maintaining large raster based databases. Mr. Drzewiecki has experience in creating 3D subsurface geologic models through the integration of CAD and GIS systems. His experience as a Geologist has allowed him to conduct reserve studies, develop and supervise exploratory drilling investigations, conduct subsidence potential analyses, and make recommendations in a variety of surface mining situations. Mr. Drzewiecki has conducted a verity of aerial investigations including photogrammetric missions, low altitude UAV photographic and videography missions, as well as Thermal Infrared studies to locate and delineate the surface expression of underground mine fires.

Jerry J. Price

Mr. Price has experience in a variety of environmental and engineering geology disciplines. His education in geology combined with work experience of more than twenty-nine years have allowed him to develop a broad background in dealing with geological issues. A majority of his experience has dealt with the development, planning and operation of landfills, subsidence studies, geologic structural analysis, coal surface mines, ground and surface water monitoring, compliance, and multiple levels of quarry planning, permitting and development.

Walter W. Kaufman P.

Mr. Kaufman has a broad background in mining. His education in mining engineering, geology, business and his more than thirty years of experience have enabled him to develop a wide understanding of most mining situations. He has authored publications on a variety of mining topics. Clients have included coal companies, quarries, utilities, banks, landfills, Pennsylvania and U.S. governmental organizations and engineering firms.
