During my academic career, I co-founded a startup, MultiModal Health, where I gained practical experience in VR technologies, product development, and human computer interaction. Our first product, vHAB, utilizes commercial VR input modalities to drive physical interaction with virtual spaces in natural ways to engage patients in their post-injury therapy. As the CTO and lead developer I created robust user interfaces, data acquisition modalities with low level hardware, and 3D mini-games in Unity, while exploring challenges in virtual reality and healthcare markets. I led a team of software engineers and researchers to develop HIPAA compliant cloud infrastructure and pilot our systems at six care centers across Washington and in patient's homes. My team operated in an agile software environment, quickly iterating on customer feedback to deliver robust end products.
