Moffitt has served as President of the American Ambulance Association, Chair of Utah Emergency Medical Services Committee and President of the Utah State Ambulance Association. In 2017, JEMS, the Journal of Emergency Medical Services, presented Gene with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Service in Emergency Medical Services. In 2016, The Utah Department of Health Bureau of Emergency Medical Services presented Gene with The Distinguished Service Award for a Lifetime of Service. He has also received: The Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013 from The American Ambulance Association (AAA); The Healthcare Hero Lifetime Achievement Award from Utah Business Magazine in 2012; and in 2000, Gold Cross Ambulance was recognized as a national leader in the ambulance industry by receiving the J. Walter Shaefer Memorial Award of Excellence.
