Andrew's practice is focused on personal injury and insurance defence cases. In his personal injury practice, Andrew represents people seeking compensation for their injuries and other losses resulting from car accidents, falls, and other negligence. Andrew also maintains a busy practice advising and defending insured people and insurance companies. His practice covers many areas of litigation including Casualty, Accident Benefits, Occupiers Liability, Commercial General Liability Claims, Products Liability, and related coverage issues.
Andrew's passion for advocacy developed early in law school at the University of Windsor through his participation in many moot court advocacy competitions. He won top oralist prizes in the Lerners Cup and the 34 th Annual Zuber Moot advocacy competitions. He was also a member of the University of Windsor Law School Gale Cup moot team.
Christian was called to the bar in 2010. He articled with a prominent civil and commercial litigation firm in Toronto and practiced law with a general litigation boutique before joining Matthews Abogado LLP in 2012.
Christian's practice covers many areas of insurance defence litigation, including Casualty, Occupiers Liability, Products Liability, Accident Benefits, Commercial General Liability Claims, and coverage issues related to these practice areas.
Christian obtained his Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in criminology, political science, and psychology from the University of Toronto in 2006. He received his LL.B. from the University of Windsor in 2009.
While in law school, Christian maintained a strong interest in litigation, participating in numerous moot court competitions as an advocate and later as a judge. During his second year of studies, Christian represented the University of Windsor at the Laskin Competitive Moot, where he co-authored a bilingual factum and delivered his oral submissions in French, his native tongue.
When not practicing law, Christian remains active on the soccer field and in a number of community and volunteer initiatives. He performs classical music regularly, both as a soloist and as a chorister with numerous choirs, including the Cantabile Chamber Singers and the Victoria Scholars Men's Choral Ensemble, a CBC award-winning choir with which he has recorded two CD's, shared a stage with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Barenaked Ladies, and served on the Board of Directors.
Dylan was called to the bar in 2011. His experience is primarily in the areas of insurance defence, family and estate litigation. He pursues a results-oriented approach for his clients based on competence, sound judgment and hard work. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario as well as various tribunals. Since 2019, he has worked in the firm's Ottawa office.
Dylan graduated from the University of Guelph in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He obtained his J.D. from Queen's University in 2009. Outside the office, he enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, and all things outdoors.
Ilya Artemyev is a dedicated legal professional with experience in civil litigation and family law.
He holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Windsor, where he completed extensive coursework in civil litigation and participated in multiple legal clinics, discovering his passion for litigation. During his time at Windsor, he also played, managed, and coached the law school soccer team. Prior to law school, Ilya earned a Bachelor of Arts Honours from York University in History, with academic interests focused on the ancient and medieval worlds. He later completed a Master of Laws (LL.M.) at Osgoode Hall Law School, specializing in taxation law.
Outside of his legal career, Ilya is a martial arts enthusiast, passionate about historical European martial arts and judo. He is also an avid soccer player and coach. His intellectual pursuits include participating in trivia, brain quiz competitions, and intellectual games, where his team frequently earns gold medals and ranks among the top in Toronto and across Canada.
In his free time, Ilya enjoys reading, particularly classical and detective fiction, in addition to historical works. Fluent in English, Russian, and German, he is committed to providing exceptional legal services to a diverse clientele.
Jason joined Matthews Abogado LLP as an associate in 2022. Jason's practice is primarily focused on defending insurance companies and insured people in motor vehicle accident claims and accident benefits disputes.
Prior to joining our firm, Jason articled at a busy personal injury boutique in Mississauga where he advocated for Plaintiffs in a wide range of claims, including motor vehicle accidents, occupiers' liability, medical negligence, and long-term disability.
Jason was called to the Bar in 2022. He received his JD from the University of Ottawa in 2021, his BA (Hons) in Law and Society from York University in 2018, and his Diploma in Police Foundations from Seneca College in 2013.

Linda is a trial and appellate lawyer focusing on advocacy and insurance litigation for over 20 years. She has extensive jury and non-jury trial experience and appellate experience. She has expertise in catastrophic claims and has represented insurers in arbitrations at the Licence Appeal Tribunal, Financial Services Commission, private arbitrations and loss transfer matters.
She has numerous reported appeal and trial decisions with her most recent successes reported in Sanofi Pasteur Limited v. UPS SCS, Inc., 2015 ONCA 88 affirming 2014 ONSC 2695 (a subrogation/liability dispute on an $8 million claim) and Debruge v Arnold, 2014 ONSC 7044, a successful threshold motion after a jury verdict. She has also been the successful moving party on numerous summary judgment motions including most recent victories in Njai v. Njai [2016] O.J. No. 1073; Sanofi Pasteur Limited v. UPS SCS, Inc., 2015 ONCA 88 affirming 2014 ONSC 2695 (a subrogation/liability dispute on an $8 million claim); Ferrier v. Hubbert, 2015 ONSC 5286 (social host defence on a $6 million claim); and Gohm v. York et al, 2013 ONSC 7118 (occupiers' liability claim on a farm policy). She conducts private arbitrations with a most recent decision in The Co-operators v. AXA Insurance relating to a priority dispute on a catastrophic claim.
She provides advice and representation to clients on a broad spectrum of insurance issues, including insurance coverage issues, CGL policies and litigation, tort motor vehicle litigation, statutory accident benefits/catastrophic claims, medical malpractice claims, property claims, loss transfer/priority arbitration disputes, occupiers liability claims, homeowners' property and liability claims, product liability matters, fraud and subrogation claims. She provides lectures and seminars to lawyers and insurance professionals on trial advocacy and various insurance issues. She is a member of the Advocates Society, Canadian Bar Association, the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto and the Canadian Defence Lawyers.
Greg Abogado is an experienced senior trial counsel and co-founder of Matthews Abogado LLP. He has over 30 years of experience in civil litigation. He has successfully acted as lead counsel in a number of jury, non-jury trials and private arbitrations for both plaintiffs and defendants. He represents plaintiffs as well as several of the largest insurers in complex personal injury claims including spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and fatalities, motor vehicle liability claims, social host liability, liquor/tavern liability, property claims, product liability, commercial general liability claims, homeowner and subrogated claims.
Greg has been invited to a number of CLE events to demonstrate proper trial preparation and techniques. He presented on The Art and Science of Preparing Jury Questions in the 2024 Tricks of the Trade. He was a Demonstrator in the 2022 OBA Anatomy of a Trial. He was also an Instructor at the 2022 and 2024 Osgoode Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop (ITAW). He is a member of the Advocates Society, American Association of Justice, Defence Research Institute, Medico-Legal Society of Canada, Canadian Bar Association and the Canadian Defence Lawyers.

Naina joined Matthews Abogado LLP as an associate in 2023.
Prior to joining the firm, Naina articled at a full-service Bay Street firm where she primarily worked with the commercial litigation and intellectual property litigation practice groups. Before immigrating to Canada, Naina had spent several years working as a legal researcher on a project funded by the European Commission.
Naina was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2023. She received a Gold Medal for her LL.M., specializing in Intellectual Property Laws from National Law University, Jodhpur. She completed her B.A.LL.B. (Hons.) from the University Institute of Legal Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh with distinction.
Besides English, Naina is fluent in Hindi and Punjabi. In her free time, she practices Kathak, a traditional Indian dance form and loves to cook.
Sara joined us in 2009 after completing her articles at Torys LLP, a full service law firm in Toronto. Sara was called to the Bar in 2008 and since then she has had many successful appearances in the Superior Court of Justice and the Divisional Court. One of Sara's most notable cases is in respect to a plaintiff's motion challenging the insurer's claim of privilege over its Schedule "B" documents (Gwendolyn Kavanagh v. Peel Mutual Insurance Company - 99 O.
Sara advocates for both plaintiffs and insurers. Her areas of specialty include personal injury, motor vehicle accidents, property claims, product liability, and subrogation claims.
Sara received a Specialized Honours in Psychology, as well as a Bachelors of Education from York University in 2004. She graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School with an LLB in 2007.

Tom is a skilled and versatile advocate, having successfully litigated and arbitrated thousands of cases on behalf of insurers as well as injured individuals. His areas of practice include motor vehicle accident claims, accident benefits disputes, slip and falls, long-term disability claims, property loss matters, construction disputes, and subrogation claims.
Tom has experience with all stages of the litigation process, from the delivery of on-point opinions to the deployment of specific strategies at critical milestones. Tom has participated at trials with senior counsel and has won several trials on his own. He is particularly proud of one where he proved the plaintiffs had staged the motor vehicle collision. In that case, Tom obtained not only compensatory damages, but aggravated and punitive damages against the plaintiffs.
Tom's AB experience ranges from MIG to CAT disputes, as well as priority and loss transfer matters. Tom has arbitration as well as appeal experience at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario. He has acted on hundreds of applications at the Licence Appeal Tribunal and has successfully conducted both in-person and written hearings.
Outside the office, Tom enjoys keeping fit while being a big foodie and wine connoisseur.
