Fiona Bartier

Fiona Bartier is an environmental and resource scientist wh o has worked in management roles for government, in research an d education, for industry groups, and for a ra nge of mining co mpanies, and is a Board Member of the New Zealand Mining Board of Examiners. Fiona spent seven years working in mining environmental research at The University of Queensland and The University of New England where she visited and worked at over 40 mine sites across a range of commodities. She then spent a period of time working for the Minerals Council of Australia. Before joining Bathurst, Fiona lived for ten years in mining communities in the Hunter Valley and western coalfields of New South Wales, working first as a consultant, and then within industry. She has management experience in open cut and underground operations, and brownfield and greenfield projects. Since 2014, Fiona has held the responsibility to manage the company's response to the New Zealand's significant health and safety reforms. Fiona holds a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Resource Science). She joined Bathurst in 2012 and is based in the Wellington office. Fiona is an environmental and resource scientist who has worked in management roles for government, in research and education, for industry groups, and for a range of mining companies.

Jayden Ellis

Jayden Ellis is Chair of the AQA Executive Board, and Technical Manager of Stevenson Construction Materials. Jayden Ellis is Business Services Manager - Finance, Technical, Engineering, Consenting, Quality, Environment, of Stevenson Construction Materials, serving wider Auckland/Waikato. He has been in the industry for 20 years, starting at Stevenson Laboratory in 1993. Jayden was a Founding Member of Civil Engineering Testing Association New Zealand (CETANZ) in 2008 and has been president since 2010. He is a member of AQA's Technical Committee and is particularly interested in aggregate product development, quality assurance, and quality control testing of aggregates. Jayden would like to see more utilisation of marginal aggregates in construction and an increased understanding of our resources and their geological properties. Jayden also sits on the National Pavement Technical Group (NPTG) and the Cement and Concrete Association New Zealand (CCANZ) Technical Group.

Joe works for McConnell Dowell Constru ct ors as Construction Manager since 2006 Joe holds a NZCE in Civil Engineering (1978) and CPEng (2014). He gained his SSE in 2016.

Josie Vidal

Josie Vidal is the CEO of Straterra Inc, a member-based organisation that advocates for the mining and minerals sectors of New Zealand. From starting her career as a print journalist, Josie has gained experience in communications, public relations and marketing in New Zealand and overseas, telling stories about everything from fashion to game-changing computer software. She has specialised in disaster response and recovery work for the New Zealand Government and industry organisations and has been a trusted political advisor, including working in the Beehive. Prior to joining Straterra, Josie spent six years in industry advocacy organisations for horticulture and trucking, traversing the corridors of power to get the best outcomes for their members.

Maria Baker

Maria is an A Grade Quarry Manager with over 15 years' experience in the quarrying industry, has a passion for health and safety and wants to see quality training provided to operators to ensure sites are run safely and sustainably. Maria was a Specialist Quarry Inspector for WorkSafe NZ.

Mike Higgins

Mike is AQA Deputy Chair. He is also Quarry Development Manager of J Swap Contractors in Matamata. Mike is an A Grade Quarry Manager with 30 years' experience in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He is particularly interested in health and safety legislation, planning and environmental issues. Mike wants to see training which allows operator level staff to advance, particularly those with literacy problems. His personal goal is for continual improvement balanced against costs.

Paul Miles

Paul is a member of the AusIMM (treasurer of the NZ Branch), the NZ Tunnelling Society, and the Institute of Directors. Principal Consultant of MS Mine Consulting with a degree in Mineral Technology (Mine Engineering) from the Otago School of Mines, Paul holds certificates of competence as a Site Senior Executive, First Class Mine Manager & A Grade Quarry Manager. Paul has worked both in New Zealand and offshore, in open pit and underground mines in both metals and coal, and also in tunnelling and alluvial gold and is currently the Site Senior Executive for the Central Interceptor project in Auckland.

Tim Kennedy is currently Fulton Hogan's Quarries Operation Manager in Gisborne. He has over 30 years' experience in the quarrying industry in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific. Tim also sits on WorkSafe's Board of Examiners and brings a knowledge and understanding of, and involvement in, learning and development in the extractives sector. He was also a member of MITO's sector advisory group on its review of extractives national qualifications. He is a workplace tutor and has been a registered assessor. He holds a New South Wales Diploma in Extractives Industries Management and a number of Australian and New Zealand quarrying CoCs, including a New Zealand A grade quarry manager CoC.

Wayne Scott - CEO

Wayne Scott is the CEO for MinEx. His previous role was Inspector of Mines (Small Mines Strategy) fo r Queensland's Department of Natural Resources and Mines for the past 8½ years. In this role, he was responsible for assisting small mine operators to meet their safety and health obligations under state mining legislation. Wayne earlier had 20 years in various management roles for Holcim Australia (previously Readymix), including managing quarry transport operations in Sydney, and quarrying and concrete operations in NSW's Mid-North Coast and in North Queensland. He served on the IOQ Australia board for 9 years and was president in 2012 / 2013. Wayne's qualifications include being a Chartered Accountant and Certified Practicing Quarry Manager together with a number of industry-based qualifications extending to an Advanced Diploma in Extractive Industries, Advanced Risk Management (University of Queensland). Wayne is a New Zealander who has worked for many years in Australia. His two adult children and their families live in Australia. Before taking up the role as CEO of MinEx, Wayne was Inspector of Mines for Queensland's Department of Natural Resources and Mines.
