Dr Jon Nuth

Dr Jon Nuth is a Registered Clinical Psychologist and Registered Neuropsychologist with expertise in Acquired Brain Injury, Adult Mental Health, Developmental Disability and Clinical Neuropsychology. Jon obtained a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Birmingham (UK), with a thesis on Executive Dysfunction (formerly known as frontal lobe injury) following TBI. He completed his honours degree in Psychology at the University of Reading (UK) in 1993 and a Masters Degree in Rehabilitation & Research at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton (UK). As well as clinical work, Jon conducts Forensic Psychological assessments and has provided expert witness evidence to New Zealand (District Courts (incl. Youth & Family Court), the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Office of the Coroner and United Kingdom Courts. He holds the designation of Specialist Assessor for the Ministry of Health in matters relating to the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care & Rehabilitation) Act 2003. Jon has a number of professional registrations and affiliations. Prior to completing clinical training (1992-2004), Jon has worked with children with autistic spectrum disorder compounded by severe challenging behaviour; in community adult intellectual disabilities services and with children with acquired brain injury. Jon completed his Clinical Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2004 at the University of Birmingham. During his training he worked at the Department of Neurophysiology and Neurosurgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Since 2004 Jon has worked: As Principal Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist at Coventry Teaching Primary Care Trust (2004-2007). As a Clinical Neuropsychologist providing contractual work with children with acquired brain injury at The Children's Trust, Tadworth (2005-2007). As Senior Clinical Psychologist at Counties Manukau District Health Board (2007-2009) As Clinical Psychologist and Neuropsychologist at Monarch Psychology, Greenlane, Auckland (providing assessments to a number of ACC contracts). As a Specialist Assessor (Ministry of Health) in matters relating to the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care & Rehabilitation) Act 2003. In addition to neuropsychological assessment and forensic work, Jon can provide one-to-one psychological input (assessment, clinical formulation and intervention/therapy). Jon is able to work from a number of therapeutic approaches. His main interest draws from mindfulness- based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (mCBT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). Jon is a Registered Clinical Psychologist and Registered Neuropsychologist with particular experience in the Adult Mental Health, Acquired Brain Injury, Developmental Disability and Clinical Neuropsychology.
