Alex has been in the financial services industry since 2018. Before joining Safe Port, he spent 4 years at Eaton Vance Investment Management as an Internal Consultant.
Alex, a fourth-generation advisor, earned the Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) designation in October of 2022 through the Investments & Wealth Institute®.
Alex is a graduate of Saint Anselm College, where he was a member of the Men's Lacrosse team. He is an avid golfer, skier, and mountain biker and resides in Gloucester with his wife, Lexi, and son Julian.

Callie has been in the financial services industry since graduating in 2021. Before joining Safe Port, she was with Ameriprise Financial serving as a Client Service Specialist. Callie graduated from Merrimack College with a degree in Business Management. She was also a First Year Experience mentor. She is currently working on her CFP.
Callie enjoys going to the beach, traveling, and local sporting events. Callie resides in Melrose, MA, with her beloved chihuahua named Mia.

In 2000, Gary transitioned forward to focus solely on Wealth Management for his clientele. This became Safe Port Financial Associates, LLC's primary objective.
Gary lives in Rockport, Massachusetts with his wife Mary, sons Benjamin and Colin and their yellow lab, Tucker. He enjoys the arts, cooking, mountaineering, adventure skiing and saltwater fly-fishing.
In the past, he served on the Board of Rockport Fireworks, was a Director of two Realty Associations, and was a past Board Member/Officer of The North Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross, The Boston Chapter of General Agents and Managers Association, Icelantic Ski Corporation, and The Tyrian/Acacia Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. His previous civic involvement ranged from Auction Chair for The Gloucester Fisherman's Athletic Association to Membership Board for the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce as well as participation in numerous Professional and Community Associations. He also served as Corporator for the Cape Ann Savings Bank of Gloucester, Massachusetts.
In July of 2023, Gary transitioned away from an active role in the daily operations at Safe Port Financial and moved into a board advisory role to support the mission of Safe Port, freeing him up to ski with his family as much as humanly possible.
Safe Port Financial's founding member, Certified Financial Consultant Gary Porter, entered into the Financial Planning industry in 1987, with one of the oldest and largest Financial Planning Firms in New England, Bay Financial Associates.

Jae was raised in Vermont and joined Safe Port Financial Associates in 2018 as a Retirement Plan Assistant, providing support to plan sponsors, participants, and third-party administrators. She has previously worked in an administrative capacity for another Commonwealth Financial affiliated partnership, Merrill Lynch, the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine, and for an elder law practice in Needham, MA.
Out of the office, she enjoys cooking, yoga, puttering in her garden, and the beauty of Cape Ann. She lives in Rockport, Massachusetts, with her husband, David, and their two cats, Miso and Wasabi.

Jeana Markowitz has been an integral part of the Safe Port Financial team for the past 15 years. She currently serves as the Office and Client Relations Manager. Prior to joining Safe Port, Jeana worked at Gloucester Engineering in the Mechanical Engineering Department. She has held her Registered Para-Planner certification and currently holds her Massachusetts Insurance Broker's license. Jeana lives with her husband David and 2 sons, Elliott and Ian, in Beverly, Mass.
Jeannie has been providing behind-the-scenes support for Safe Port Financial since 2015. A native of
Holliston, Massachusetts she is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. In 2022 she

Joyce McCarthy serves as one of your daily points of contact for assistance and has been providing extraordinary client service on Michael's team since 2011. She previously worked at Fidelity Investments for 13 years on the Retail side of the business. Her roles ranged from Project Management to Developing Strategy and Best Practices for the Transfer Agent and Call Centers.
Joyce and her husband Ed live in Framingham, MA, and Saratoga Springs, NY, and have three adult children.
Mary Porter worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years. She held her Series 7 and 63 securities brokerage registrations as well as her insurance broker's license. Prior to joining Safe Port, she worked as a Managing Partner with Mass. Resources Financial Group and as a Benefits Consultant with HRH Group in Boston. She was with Safe Port Financial for over 10 years as a Client Account Assistant, before retiring from her position in July of 2023.
Mary earned her BS degree in Business Management from Providence College. She is married to Gary Porter and lives in Rockport, MA, with their 2 sons, Ben and Colin.
Since 1990, Michael R. Buxbaum CFP® has been advising businesses and professionals in all matters of financial planning and enjoys working with people who are as serious about managing their wealth as he is. Getting a deep understanding of a client's goals, objectives, and beliefs through a financial planning process enabled Michael to become a trusted family advisor for multiple generations. Giving the right advice at the right time and for the right reasons is Michael's motivating force.
Michael, a third-generation advisor, is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional.
A graduate of the University of Maine, Michael resides in Gloucester with his wife, Jeannie, and their three children, Alex, Kailey, and Rachael. An avid skier, runner, and golfer, Michael has enjoyed coaching his children in hockey and lacrosse over the past decade. One of Michael's proudest accomplishments is his fundraising efforts for Children's Hospital Boston, raising over $10,000 over the past three years by running the Falmouth Road race every August.
