Miss Tressa Amir is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a special interest in shoulder, elbow and upper limb conditions. Her main surgical interests include advances in the arthroscopic (keyhole) treatment for rotator cuff injuries and dislocations of the shoulder as well as joint replacement for shoulder arthritis.
Having qualified from both Cambridge University and Imperial College London, she completed her specialist orthopaedic training on the North-West Thames rotation in London. This gave her the opportunity to work with many world renowned upper limb surgeons. Prior to becoming a consultant she underwent a one-year advanced UK training fellowship in shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand surgery at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry.
She is on the GMC specialist register for orthopaedic surgery and is a member of the British Shoulder and Elbow Society (BESS). She is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and the clinical lead for Upper Limb.
Miss Amir was appointed as a Wellcome Trust Fellow in 2013 and undertook research on rotator cuff sparing approaches for total shoulder replacement. She was also involved in the development of a new total shoulder replacement with the Biomechanical Engineering Department at Imperial College. Her work has been published and presented internationally.
Miss Amir is involved in the training of higher surgical trainees; she teaches on a number of orthopaedic and trauma courses nationally and is an AO Faculty member. She enjoys teaching and explaining complex principles simply and transfers these skills to help ensure patients have sufficient knowledge and understanding to make informed decisions about their treatment.
Clinics are held at Watford General Hospital on Wednesdays. Miss Amir operates In Watford and St. Albans.

Mr. Rudge is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon whose clinical practice is dedicated to treating patients with Foot and Ankle problems.
Mr. Makki provides a specialist trauma & orthopaedic service at West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust. Clinics are held at Watford General and St Albans City Hospital and operations performed at Watford and St Albans City Hospitals.
James Langdon is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon whose clinical practice is dedicated to treating patients with spinal problems.
Mr. Langdon qualified from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School (Imperial College), and later undertook his specialist training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He subsequently underwent a one-year UK advanced training fellowship in spinal surgery. Mr. Langdon is on the GMC specialist register for Orthopaedic surgery, and is a member of the British Association of Spinal Surgeons. He is a Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr. Langdon's main surgical interest is in the use of minimally invasive spinal surgical techniques. He believes that the use of these techniques improves patient outcomes and reduces length of hospital stay. He offers a full range of surgical treatments for degenerative spinal conditions including lumbar microdiscectomy, spinal decompression, minimally invasive spinal fusions, anterior cervical decompression and fusion / disc replacement, balloon kyphoplasty, as well as spinal injections. Mr. Langdon ensures he takes the time to explain things clearly in easy to understand terms, enabling patients to make informed decisions about their treatment.
Mr. Langdon has published several research papers on trauma and orthopaedic surgery, and has presented this work at both national and international meetings.
Clinics are held at Watford General, Hemel Hempstead and St. Albans City Hospitals, and Mr. Langdon operates in Watford and St. Albans.
Mr Waters is Clinical Director for Trauma and Orthopaedics at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust where he is also lead for Undergraduate Surgical training (University College London) and Associate Professor (St George's University)
