Abigail Behling is a Legal Assistant at Albee Law PC. Based upon her experiences growing up in a family that was running an active business, she is interested in supporting small and growing businesses and the families that they support.

Emma Y. Friebus

Emma Y. Friebus is an Associate at Albee Law PC. Emma has a broad background in handling litigation matters and complex legal issues. Emma enjoys assisting clients in solving the most complicated of legal challenges. Emma developed a passion for working with businesses while in law school, where she worked in her school's business law clinic. Since then, Emma has assisted her clients with business formation, including drafting articles of incorporation/organization, corporate bylaws, operating agreements, and filing necessary tax forms. Emma has also represented her clients in commercial litigation and in drafting and negotiating fair settlement agreements. Originally from Detroit, Emma came to Chicago for her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. At Northwestern, Emma earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with a minor in German. Emma spent her junior year studying abroad at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. Upon graduating, Emma volunteered full time as an AmeriCorps member in Little Rock, Arkansas where she led a community service and leadership development program for middle-school youth. Emma earned her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she was awarded a merit scholarship upon entrance. In addition to working in her school's Business Law Clinic, Emma was an Associate Editor for The Loyola University Chicago School of Law International Law Review, where she edited publications written by legal scholars focusing on issues involving international law. Upon graduation, Emma received a Certificate in International Law for substantial coursework she completed in the area of international law, which coursework included international business transactions, antitrust and competition law, and comparative law. John W. Albee - Founder

John W. Albee is the Founder and Principal of Albee Law PC. John is very hands on with the day to day operations of the firm and its clients. John enjoys working very closely with businesses, often in the role as outside in-house counsel. From a very early age, John always wanted to become a lawyer. His pursuit of a legal career began in college at the University of Dayton while taking pre-law related courses and serving on the University's Mock Trial Team for two years. During law school, John participated in a competitive Mock Trial team and also took serval classes emphasizing trial advocacy and business law topics. John has been a private practice attorney since graduating from The John Marshall Law School in 2003. John's early years of practice included handling a large number of litigation matters and gaining significant experience, including arbitration, motion practice, sophisticated discovery, and jury trial experience. From early in his career, John has always enjoyed aggressively advocating for the rights of his clients in the court system in positioning cases for successful resolution. For the past twelve plus years of his career, John has focused primarily on representing the interests of businesses in navigating through the legal complexities that arise on a day to day basis. John enjoys helping businesses solve problems and find solutions in an efficient and effective manner through his knowledge of the complexities of the legal system. John started Albee Law PC in 2014 and is a proud principal of the firm. John started the firm with the goal of creating a law firm focusing on small to mid-size businesses, often an underserved market, obtain a high level of service. He has grown Albee Law PC into a firm that is a trusted partner in handling everyday legal matters that arise in the role of outside in-house counsel for several successful and growing companies. In his efforts to meet the needs of the underserved small to mid-size business community with quality and reasonably priced in-house counsel related services, John constantly strives to create processes that benefit his clients and lead to a strong and long-lasting relationship. He finds that solving complicated legal issues for his clients and further strengthening long-standing client relationships with the firm is a great source of energy and pride. When he is not at work, John enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. John takes a very active role in the activities of his children and is a volunteer coach and professional fan. Mark D. Hansen

Mark D. Hansen is Of Counsel at Albee Law PC. Mark has over three decades of experience primarily representing management in navigating challenging employment and organized labor matters. Mark D. Hansen joined Albee Law in the role as Of Counsel in 2019. Over a distinguished career spanning over 30 years, Mark has developed a passion for working with employers with regard to employment law and employment litigation related matters and provides Albee Law with a broad depth of experience in advising employers on personnel, human resources and employment law issues. Mark's relevant experience includes: Has extensive experience representing management before federal, state and local agencies responsible for handling discrimination charges. Has tried employment actions before juries in federal court, as well as before the Illinois Human Rights Commission and other state agencies outside of Illinois. Regularly defends management in class and collective wage and hour actions in state and federal courts. Has defended employers in many labor arbitrations throughout the country. Represents clients before the National Labor Relations Board on matters including picketing, secondary boycotts and other unfair labor practice charges. Has advised management in union organizing campaigns. Extensive experience in representing employers before federal and state labor departments. Routinely counsels clients in a wide variety of human resources matters such as managing personnel problems and establishing effective policies and procedures. Frequently participates in management training programs and seminars on a wide variety of topics such as wage and hour practices, workplace privacy, and in-house personnel auditing procedures.
