BUSINESS MODEL DYNAMICS

The principal objective of this Sinergia research project is to explore and clarify the nature of the mechanisms and dynamics underlying the emergence and evolution of new and existing Business Models (BMs). To achieve this objective and coherently integrate multiple perspectives, each focusing on specific aspects of the phenomenon, the whole project revolves around answering one core research question, namely: how do organizational actors discover, design, and develop new BMs? Building on the notion of dynamic capabilities (DC), we frame our research question to focus on three key processes: discovering opportunities for new BMs (sensing), designing new BMs (seizing) and developing (transforming) a BM (Teece, 2007).
