John P. Daly

Background Dr. John Daly was born in Dover, New Hampshire, in 1959. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Washington and Lee University, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi, and graduated cum laude in 1981. In 1984, he graduated from Ohio State University as a Master's candidate in biochemistry. Dr. Daly went on to attend West Virginia University's School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine in 1988 and completed his internship in general surgery. He served as resident general surgeon at Western Pennsylvania Hospital in pittsburgh from 1989 to 1993. Dr. Daly is affiliated with Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, and has been appointed to the emergency department and parenteral nutrition committees at West Paces Medical Center. He served as chief of the department of surgery (1993-1999) and was a member of the board of trustees (1996-1999) at West Paces Ferry Hospital. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the American Medical Association, the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Medical Societies, the Medical Association of Georgia, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Daly is the owner of the Georgia Surgery Clinic, P.C., a prestigious general surgery practice established in the 1950s. Georgia Surgery was one of the pioneer clinics in the area of breast conservation for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment, and currently specializes in advanced laparoscopic surgery, breast care, endocrine surgery, and bariatric surgery. Dr. Daly was a faculty member at the Advanced Laparoscopic Training Center in Marietta, Georgia, in 1997, and has served as a preceptor and educator for advanced laparoscopic training at Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. since 1998. He has also been a consultant for the Atlanta Thrashers since 1999. He has received the honor of being named "Top Doctor" - twice; first in a May 1999 issue of Atlanta Magazine, and then by the Center of Study for Services in Washington, D.C. His distinction in Atlanta Magazine is a recognition of his popularity among local patients, while the latter identifies him as being among the top-rated physicians in one of America's largest metropolitan areas. Dr. Daly is married to Beth A. Daly, and has two sons, Patrick and Jordan. Dr. Daly enjoys an active lifestyle that includes boating, skiing, scuba diving, and biking.
