Alex MacIsaac

Alex has always been committed to establishing a democratic world community. He has participated in and founded various political groups and student clubs throughout his collegial, undergraduate, and graduate studies, including but not limited to the Debating League of Mississauga and Global Federalist Association. Alex's drive for world federalism is mixed with a non-partisan approach to politics and balanced with a respect for national and local sovereignty. Having worked at Elections Canada over the last few years dealing directly with candidates and political parties, Alex is most passionate about projects targeted towards establishing and reforming global democratic systems.

Dr. Walter Dorn - President

Dr Walter Dorn is a Professor of Defence Studies at the Canadian Forces College (CFC) and the Royal Military College of Canada. He serves as Chair of the Department of Security and International Affairs at CFC. He is also Chair of Canadian Pugwash, an organization of physical, life and social scientists seeking to reduce the threats to global security. Dr. Dorn seeks to promote international peace and security through teaching, research and service (including field work). His most recent book is "Keeping Watch: Monitoring, Technology, and Innovation in UN Peace Operations."

Erica Wilson

Erica Wilson graduated from the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, obtaining a Master of Global Affairs (MGA) with an emphasis in innovation policy. In 2019, Erica did an internship with UNICEF's Human Rights Unit in Geneva where she attended the Human Rights Council as well as several country reviews at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights related to individual countries' compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. She continues her passion for global governance through her work in non-profits and in her role as Narrative Designer for a peacekeeping videogame that explores the impact of climate change on peacekeeping, humanitarian operations, and local populations.

John Cowan

John Cowan is a retired professional engineer and management consultant with an M.B.A. John retired from his own business of energy and environmental management consulting for large building owners and institutions in 2017. That work had taken him around the world where he observed the similar life ambitions of everyone he met. Therefore his focus after retiring became the lack of global legal structure to enforce good environmental management standards, amongst other pressing global problems. In his spare time John played leading roles in local charities and in the development of international professional standards in the new field of energy management. He has supported development of a world federation through his membership in WFMC since 1990.

Karen Hamilton

Dr. Hamilton is also a long-term member of the World Federalist Movement - Canada and an executive member of the international World Federalist Movement for which she chaired the Statutes and By-Laws revision. Dr. Hamilton currently serves as Co-Chair of The Parliament of the World's Religions and leads an Interfaith course through St. George's College, Jerusalem.

Michelle Lawrence

Michelle started her accounting and administration career in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Kingston, Jamaica. She worked as an Accountant/Office Manager in the Jamaican Embassies in Havana, Cuba and Washington DC, USA and worked as a locally recruited staff at the Jamaican High Commission in Ottawa, Canada. During her tenure with the Jamaican Foreign Service, she travelled extensively to Embassies, Consulates and High Commissions in the Caribbean, Europe and North American. Michelle holds a Bachelor of Commerce, with a Specialization in Accounting from the University of Ottawa and is a Certified General Accountant (CGA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). Almost four years ago, Michelle made the transition from the private sector to the not-for-profit sector when she became and still is the Manager of Accounting at the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa.

Nancy Regehr - Treasurer

Nancy has more than 30 years of experience in financial, fundraising and administrative management in the non-profit charitable sector. She has a certificate in nonprofit and voluntary sector management from Ryerson University in Toronto and has significant board experience. In addition to serving as treasurer of the World Federalist Movement - Canada and the World Federalist Foundation, Nancy also serves on several boards in the Waterloo Region - as past chair and secretary of the Grand Philharmonic Choir, chair of MennoHomes, and chair of the Centre for Security Governance. Nancy and her husband Ernie live in Waterloo, Ontario and have been supporters of the World Federalist Movement - Canada and the World Federalist Foundation for many years.

Nicolas Baird - Chairman

Nicolas Baird is a dedicated servant leader and global citizen. He campaigns on green issues within Canadian electoral politics, serving as President of the Ottawa Centre Green Party Constituency Association since 2017. He has been an active participant in the World Federalist Movement - Canada since 2014, serving as Chair of either the board or executive committee for the past three years. He has authored policy resolutions on the UNPA, and has been published on technology in peacekeeping. He works as a communications professional, specializing in web analytics. Norbert D'Costa - President

Norbert D'Costa is a retired Information Technology Manager with a BSc in Physics and Mathematics. Born and raised in India, Norbert moved to Saudi Arabia after his education where he worked for 16 years. He immigrated to Canada in 1991 shortly after the first Gulf War. Besides living and experiencing many years in South Asia, the Middle East and North America, Norbert has travelled to many countries in Europe, and to Australia, New Zealand and mainland China, experiencing diversity in language, culture, religions. In a Federated World Government Norbert sees how diverse peoples can come together at a global level to tackle climate change, piracy on the high seas, and avoid wars between nations without in any way taking away the sovereignty they currently enjoy. That is why Norbert is active in the World Federalist Movement, promoting its success.

Peter Venton

Peter Venton holds a BA Honours Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario and an MA Economics degree from Queen's University. He was a senior economist in the Ontario Government's Ministry of Finance for 24 years. In his retirement, he has published articles on political economy including "Towards World Federalism for International Peace and a Sustainable Environment." Currently he is the lead of the Global Issues Project in the Canadian Pugwash Group. The mission of the GIP is to search for and develop policies to socioeconomic and environmental threats to human security .

Robin Collins

Robin Collins has been with WFMC on Council for several years, including as national secretary. His focus is on improving global responses to crises that can lead to military interventions. His interests include alternative security options, the UN Emergency Peace Service, sustainable common security and Responsibility to Protect (R2P). He has been involved in a range of disarmament campaigns including for the elimination of nuclear weapons, antipersonnel mines and cluster munitions.

Rose Dyson - CCO, VP

Rose Dyson, Ed.D, is a Consultant in Media Education with a doctorate in adult education. She has served on the executives of media studies and peace organizations, both locally and globally, provided consultations to industry and government and attended numerous sessions of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in NYC. She is now also active with Just Earth, a member of the Climate Action Network, Canadians Concerned About Violence In Entertainment, the Anti Child Exploitation on the Internet Team, Friends of Egerton Ryerson and the Global Ecological Integrity Group. She has spoken at national and international conferences on media issues, youth education, teachers' professional development, crime prevention and sustainable development. Her book, MIND ABUSE Media Violence And Its Threat to Democracy (2021) is a second edition. She has chapters and papers published in numerous peer reviewed books and journals. For 17 years she edited The Learning Edge, for the Canadian Association for the Study of Adult Education.
