It is important that the damper of the chimney is fully opened during operation of a vented log set... Direct vent gas fireplaces have a pane of glass that is not removed during operation. Some direct vent units may have 2 panes of glass or even 3 panes of glass. It is important that the glass is securely in place so that the components of combustion do not enter the room. Never use harsh chemicals (ammonia based cleaners like window cleaner) or anything abrasive. This may cause serious damage.
