GLASLLWCH PRIMARY SCHOOL

Glasllwch Primary School celebrated 50 years as a school in 2008. It provides education for children between 3 and 11 and is located in an economically advantaged, residential area of Newport which is made up almost entirely of privately owned houses. There are currently 238 children on roll (September 2019); about half come from the immediate area with the other half coming from further afield. Our nursery class ‘Seren Fach' opened in September 2015. The majority of children entering the reception class have previously been to our school nursery or one of the local feeder nurseries or to a private nursery. The children are generally of average or above average ability. A relatively low percentage of children are entitled to free school meals (2.2%) A total of 34 children have been identified as having additional learning needs (14%), with 3 children receiving statements (1.7%).
