The Initiative is a neighbourhood strategy dedicated to the people of the glengarry neighbourhood in Windsor, Ontario. Established in 2013, The Initiative: Glengarry to Marentette, , is a non-profit neighbourhood renewal strategy funded by the United Way Centraide Windsor-Essex. The Initiative's primary mandate is to support the priorities and needs of the people of the Glengarry residential corridor (Glengarry Ave. E. to the West; Marentette Ave. to the East; Riverside Dr. E. to the North and Wyandotte St. E. to the South) in hopes of celebrating and developing community, ownership, and leadership among the residents of the area. To accomplish the goal of supporting residents, the Initiative uses a community development model based in macro social work practice known as community capacity development.
