Alberto Heras has been Lead Partner of the Tax Practice of our Barcelona office since January 2013, when he joined the firm from EY Abogados, where he had been working for 14 years. He has extensive experience in providing advice on corporate taxation and business restructuring processes and tax procedures to multinational groups and family businesses operating in a wide range of business sectors (distribution, automotive, wholesale, real estate, pharmaceutical and port concessions, among others). He has been responsible for providing tax advice (due diligence, tax optimisation of transaction and tax aspects of financing) in numerous transactions for the purchase of companies, both from the perspective of the buyer and the seller. He has also led transfer pricing projects, including the preparation or review of compulsory documentation and the valuation of transactions of leading multinational groups. Cristina Vidal

Cristina Vidal has been Partner of the Commercial Law Practice and head of Financial Regulation and Collective Investment Schemes (CISs), since 2015. She specialises in infringement proceedings, advising both on preliminary supervisory and inspection proceedings and rules of conduct, market abuse, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing, etc. She also participates in capital market transactions, in particular in public listings and takeover bids and in financial restructuring processes. She advises listed companies and regulated entities on matters of corporate governance and legal compliance. Cristina is a Government Lawyer currently on leave, having practised as such before the Spanish National High Court (Audiencia Nacional) and in the Sub-Directorate General of the Litigation Service of the State Legal Service (Subdirección General de lo Contencioso de la Abogacía General del Estado). Between 2010 and 2013 she was Director of the Litigation and Disciplinary Department of the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), where she also held the office of Vice-Secretary of the Governing Council. Elena Tarragona Fernández is Senior Associate of the firm's Finance and Banking, and M&A Practices. She joined the firm in 2014 after seven years at Caja Madrid (now Caixabank) as head of Corporate Banking Legal Services within the Business Division for Cataluña and Aragón. Prior to this, from 2005 to 2007, she worked in the Banking Practice of the law firm Jiménez de Parga Abogados. She has extensive experience in advising both companies and financial institutions in syndicated or bilateral structured finance transactions, bank debt refinancing, restructuring processes and pre-insolvency situations, project finance (energy, real estate and infrastructure sectors), national and international corporate finance transactions, financing of acquisitions, asset financing, financing of public sector, capital markets and corporate transactions in general. As head of Legal Services for Property Developers of the Levante Area of Spain at Caja Madrid between 2007 and 2011, she also has extensive experience in advising on real estate and registry matters in financing for the property development sector. Fernando Manzanedo has been Partner of the firm's Litigation, Insolvency & Arbitration Practice since 2017. He is a Government Lawyer on leave of absence. He has extensive experience in civil, commercial and contentious-administrative proceedings. He also acts before the various Arbitration Courts (ICC, CIMA, Spanish Court of Arbitration, the Court of Arbitration of Madrid, etc.). Javier Gómez Bermúdez

Javier Gómez Bermúdez has enjoyed an outstanding career in the judiciary. In 1999 he was appointed judge of the Criminal Chamber of the Spanish Audiencia Nacional, being elected its President in 2004, a position which he held until 2012. He has also been judge of the Central Examining Magistrates' Court, judge of the Central Juvenile court and Prison Supervision judge of the Spanish Audiencia Nacional. In May 2015 he was appointed Spanish Liaison Magistrate in France by the Spanish Council of Ministers, a position which he held until joining the firm. Although he has extensive experience in relation to terrorism, of both Islamist extremists and ETA -he is regarded as the originator of the Parot doctrine-, Gómez Bermúdez specialises in particular in financial criminal law. As an authority in this regard, in 2000 he was responsible for enforcing the judgment in the "Banesto" case and presided as judge at the courts trying high-profile cases relating to financial crimes, such as the "Torras", "Interfur", "PSV", "KIO" and "Huarte" cases, among others. In more recent times, he has been the judge examining the case of corruption among senior officials of the Regional Government of Madrid. He is also an expert in penitentiary law, having been the first Prison Supervision judge. Education Degree in Law from the Universidad de Granada (1984).
