Dr. Annie DesGroseilliers

Dr. Annie DesGroseilliers grew up in the town of Newmarket, just a short drive North from Toronto. After graduating from Monseigneur-de-Charbonnel with high honors, she continued her education at the University of Ottawa where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in 1996. During that time she competed in various high level Badminton provincial competitions. She was twice awarded the MVP award. Upon graduation Dr. DesGroseilliers moved east to attend The University of Montreal, School of Optometry where she completed clinical rotations in pediatrics, contact lens, ocular pathology and binocular vision. She also completed an externship at the Colorado Omni Eye Center with an emphasis on diseases of the retina, glaucoma, pharmacological treatment of the anterior segment and pre- and post-operative management of cataract and refractive surgery. After 8 years of schooling she obtained her Doctorate in Optometry in 2000. After a month of travelling in Australia with her twin sister, she became an associate at eyeDOCS. Since joining the practice, she gained valuable knowledge from her mentors Dr. Margaret Hansen and Dr. Roland des Groseilliers.

Dr. Anthony Irani

Dr. Irani was born and raised in Ottawa. He attended the University of Waterloo for his Optometry Degree in 2018, graduating on the Dean's Honour's list. During his studies, Dr. Irani took part in a humanitarian mission trip with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to help provide eye care to over 2500 patients in Peru. He was a member of several school clubs such as the Canadian Association of Optometry Students (CAOS), the Waterloo Health Profession's Committee and the Waterloo Advancement of Independent Optometry Club. Dr. Irani completed an externship at the Jack C. Montgomery Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma where he gained experience managing ocular diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He also completed his primary care externship at eyeDOCS Ottawa. In his spare time, Dr. Irani enjoys hiking, swimming and spending time with his family. He is also an avid traveller, having travelled to over 20 countries!

Dr. Brittany Yelle

Dr. Brittany Yelle is an American board certified optometrist who graduated from the University of Montreal School of Optometry in 2020. Throughout her studies, she was an active member of the university's student council as the trustee for the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA). As part of her clinical rotations, Dr Yelle completed a joint internship with eyeDOCS and Precision Cornea Centre in Ottawa, where she gained experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular disease with a concentration in cornea and anterior segment pathology. Dr. Yelle is passionate about community outreach work. She has travelled with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to provide eye care in Ecuador and has participated in University of Montreal's mobile clinic, « Regard collectif », which offers full eye exams to the homeless population. She is also passionate about specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Carolyn Fyffe

Dr. Fyffe graduated on the Dean's Honours list with both her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees from the University of Waterloo in 2003. Dr. Fyffe began practice in Calgary, AB as a part of the Lifetime Vision Care team from 2003-2008. She joined eyeDOCS in 2008 after she and her husband moved to Ottawa to be closer to family. She is now happy to be raising her two sons in the Alta Vista area. Dr. Fyffe has extensive experience in pediatric eye care, ocular disease and eye surgery co-management as well as both simple and advanced contact lens fitting. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages and looks forward to creating many lifelong patient-doctor relationships as part of the eyeDOCS team.

Dr. Carolyn Kudo

Dr. Carolyn Kudo was born and raised in Montreal and completed her bachelor's of science degree at McGill University in Neuroscience. She then proceeded to receive her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo and graduated on the Dean's Honours List in 2017. Through the course of the 4 year optometry program, Dr. Kudo completed various internships, including an ocular disease and therapeutics rotation in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she worked at a veterans' hospital. She also enjoyed being part of an optometric outreach program in Zhihuatanejo, Mexico helping those in need of eye care. In her spare time, Dr. Kudo loves to explore new cities around the world and cook for her family and friends. Having spent the last 4 years practicing in Ajax, she is thrilled to be settling in Ottawa and to be joining the eyeDOCS team!

Dr. David Featherstone

Dr. Featherstone was born and raised in Waterloo, Ontario. He attended the University of Waterloo - graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science. He obtained his Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Waterloo's School of Optometry and Vision Science in 2015. Dr. Featherstone joined eyeDOCS in 2015. Most recently he completed an international clerkship at the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs hospital in Oklahoma, with a special focus on management of ocular diseases including; glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, inflammation and vascular conditions. He also completed internships in Halifax; with an emphasis on geriatric eye care and low vision services, and in Ottawa with the eyeDOCS clinics where he gained experience in primary care. Dr. Featherstone became the owner of eyeDOCS Barrahven in 2019. Dr. Featherstone was able to work alongside the VOSH International organization on a humanitarian mission to Romania. Over the course of a week they provided more than 7000 thousand people with comprehensive free eye exams. He found it was privilege to provide so many individuals with their first pair of glasses, and is looking forward to returning to Romania one day in the future. In his spare time, Dr. Featherstone enjoys staying active and playing a variety of sports, such as hockey, squash, swimming and running. He is glad to be back in Ottawa so he can enjoy the wonderful trails and museums.

Dr. Elaina Kuang

Dr. Elaina Kuang grew up in the suburbs of Montreal and Toronto, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. After graduation, she worked as an ophthalmic technician and discovered her passion for the field of eye care. In 2014, she graduated cum laude from Illinois College of Optometry, where she was awarded membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Kuang gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases through her clinical externship rotations at the Illinois Eye Institute, Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, a private practice in Andersonville and the Jesse Brown Veterans Affair Medical Centre. During her training in Chicago, Dr. Kuang also provided comprehensive eye exams to the pediatric population via the Chicago Public Schools Eye and Vision Care Program, a pilot program lead by Dr. Sandra Block, aimed to help low-income students who fail in-school vision screenings. After her experiences in Chicago, she moved to Ottawa and now enjoys practicing full scope optometry at eyeDOCS. Dr. Kuang is an active member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. She feels privileged to provide thorough vision and eye health exams to patients of all ages and welcomes new patients. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, gardening, traveling and takes a special interest in painting. Whenever possible, she visits her family in Toronto and Montreal.

Dr. Elias Nour

Dr. Elias Nour was born and raised here in the nation's capital. He attended the University of Ottawa for his undergraduate studies receiving degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Business Administration. He then completed his doctorate degree in 2019 at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science graduating on the Dean's Honours list. Most recently, he completed an internship in Oklahoma at a Cherokee Nation Health Center where he gained extensive knowledge in the management of glaucoma and ocular disease. During his final year of study, he was awarded the Ottawa Society of Optometrist Scholarship as well as the Good-Lite Paediatric Optometry Award. In his spare time, Dr. Nour enjoys golfing, reading, and watching sports. He is happy and excited to be providing eye care services in his local community.

Dr. Eric DesGroseilliers

Dr. Eric DesGroseilliers graduated from the University of Montreal's School of Optometry in 1996 and obtained a Bachelor of Science, Summa Cum Laude, with honours in Molecular Biology from the University of Ottawa in 1992. Dr. DesGroseilliers joined eyeDOCS in 1996 and became partner in 1998. He grew up in the Alta Vista area where he now practices. He is distantly related to one of the founding partners, Dr. Roland des Groseilliers, and enjoyed the opportunity of being mentored by him and his wife Dr. Margaret Hansen-des Groseilliers for many years.

Dr. Erin Condran

Dr. Erin Condran grew up in Manotick and graduated from Canterbury High School. She completed her undergraduate degree at Queen's University, graduating in 2011 with a BScH in Life Sciences. Dr. Condran graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science in 2015. During her studies, Dr. Condran was awarded the Abbott Medical Optics Prize, the Barbara Sivak Memorial Award, the Ottawa Society of Optometrists Scholarship and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award. During her clinical rotations, she completed an internship at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Here she gained experience in the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases. She also gained experience in low vision, contact lenses, and pediatric care at the University of Waterloo. Dr. Condran has travelled with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to provide eye care and glasses to those in need in Romania. Dr. Condran joined eyeDOCS in 2015. She is very excited to have returned to her hometown of Ottawa after being away for school. She looks forward to meeting new patients and helping the Ottawa community with their eye care needs. In her spare time, Dr. Condran enjoys cycling, running and reading. She loves travelling, and staying in town exploring Ottawa.

Dr. Kristel Jefferies

Dr. Jefferies completed her degree in Biochemistry, graduating with Highest Honours, in 2008 at the University of Guelph. In 2013, she completed her doctorate degree at the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry and Vision Science, where she received the Reginald Williams Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence and the W. Ross Andrews Prize for Clinical Optometry. Dr. Jefferies joined the eyeDOCS team in 2013. Dr. Melissa Ings

Dr. Melissa Ings was born in Ottawa but grew up outside Saint John, New Brunswick. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biology from the University of New Brunswick in 2003 before moving to Waterloo to complete her optometry degree at the University of Waterloo's School of Optometry and Vision Science. Dr. Ings graduated the program in 2008. After graduating she moved to Ottawa and worked at another optometry practice in the city for five years before joining eyeDOCS in 2013. In 2019, Dr. Ings became a partner for eyeDOCS Kanata. She can be found practicing at this clinic, located in Kanata North just off March Road. Dr. Ings loves living and working in North Kanata and seeing familiar faces from the community every day. In her spare time she likes reading, gardening, cooking and most of all spending as much time as she can with her two young children.

Dr. Nathan Stolch

Dr. Nathan Stolch graduated from the University of Waterloo's School of Optometry in 2008 on the Dean's Honours List. He received the L.M. Newell Clinical Optometry Prize and the Optometric Services Inc. award for Excellence in Practice Management. He also graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2004 where he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biopharmaceutical Sciences, magna cum laude. Dr. Stolch joined eyeDOCS in 2008 and became a partner in 2010. He grew up in the Orleans area of Ottawa.

Dr. Serge Fauchon

After studying physics at the University of Ottawa, Dr. Fauchon graduated from the University of Montreal, School of Optometry in 1997. He did an internship at the Quentin Burdick Memorial Hospital in Belcourt, North Dakota, with an emphasis on diseases of the retina and glaucoma. He Joined eyeDOCS in 1997 and became partner in 1998. He provides full scope optometric care with special interest in disease of the eye, more particularly for glaucoma and diabetic patients. He also works closely with laser centers for pre- and post-refractive laser surgery co-management. He enjoys going to different schools in the Ottawa area to perform eye exam to the junior and senior kindergarten students. Dr. Fauchon is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Ottawa Society of Optometrists. He serves as a member of the Canadian Examiners in Optometry (serves as an assessor during licensing examinations of students at the University of Montreal, School of Optometry). Leisure time activities include traveling with his wife and children, golf, hockey and to a certain point, being a handyman. He loves coaching his two son's hockey team in the Cumberland Minor Hockey Association.

Dr. Shawn Charland

Dr. Shawn Charland completed an honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary in 1994 before graduating from the University of Waterloo, School of Optometry in 1999. He was a recipient of the Allergan Research award in 1996 and the Canadian Optometry Association Award of Merit in 1999. Dr. Charland grew up in Calgary and practiced on the east and west coasts before moving to Ottawa and joining eyeDOCS in 2006. Dr. Charland became a partner in 2007.

Dr. Stephanie Wu

Dr. Stephanie Wu graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from the University of Toronto in 2013. In 2017, she graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts, and was awarded membership in the Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society. Her clinical externships included Perkins School for the Blind, Spaulding Rehabilitation Center, Bedford Veterans Affairs Hospital, South Boston Community Health Center, and a private clinic in Sarnia, Ontario. Dr. Wu has also travelled with Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH) to provide eye care and glasses to underserved communities in Dominican Republic. It was during her years in school where she developed an interest in ocular disease. Dr. Wu had the privilege of working with eyeDOCS previously as front end staff while in school. She is very excited to return to the eyeDOCS family and help Ottawa community with their eye care needs. In her spare time, Dr. Wu enjoys playing the piano, knitting, hiking, and travelling with family.

Mark has twelve years of combined experience working in the optical industry. He came to Ottawa thirteen years ago to study psychology at Carleton University. After completing his first year of post-secondary education he began working in an optical store over the summer months. His interest in the field grew as he was mentored by a newly graduated optician and the co-owner of the store. He continued in working in optometry throughout his school years and after school he moved to London, Ontario. He remained working in the optical field and gained management experience which combined with his education in psychology has enabled him to excel among the eyeDOCS team as clinic manager. In October 2012, Mark joined the team at eyeDOCS. Mark has worked at four of the six eyeDOCS locations and in the spring of 2013 he became the clinic manager at the office in Westboro. As of February 2018, he manages the eyeDOCS Westboro, eyeDOCS Kanata and eyeDOCS Preston locations. As the clinic manager, Mark ensures the staff at eyeDOCS Westboro, eyeDOCS Kanata and eyeDOCS Preston are communicating and working together to improve and execute the highest standards of patient care. Finally, Mark is responsible for ensuring the execution of best practice procedures, for recruitment and coaching of staff members and for managing the budget for eyeDOCS Westboro, eyeDOCS Kanata and eyeDOCS Preston. Mark is also responsible for the centralization of eyeDOCS contact lens online/in-store ordering systems. Mark can be found at eyeDOCS Westboro, eyeDOCS Kanata and eyeDOCS Preston where he further assists the sales staff by imparting product knowledge and troubleshooting any issues patients may be having with their glasses. Nathalie Barjolin

Nathalie's career in the optical industry started in 1989 and spans more than 20 years. When she was in her 1 st year of college and she took a part time job as a receptionist in one of Ottawa's premier optical stores. Here Nathalie was introduced to the key operations of an optical store. She continued to work there until graduating from college and then she moved on to work with children. After several years, she decided that the optical field is where she wanted to be. Nathalie worked with a local optical chain for 6 years, and then joined eyeDOCS in 2001, receiving her Optometric Assistant certification in 2007. Her passion for working with eyeDOCS stems from the seamless combination of two different fields. In her daily tasks she can not only help her patients to see better and to take better care of the health of their eyes but she also gets to work in the fashion industry, helping the patients to select frames and sunglasses that best suit their style. It is Nathalie's great sense of style has kept her passion for the optometry industry alive for so many years. Nathalie approaches optical consultations by first taking on the role of a personal shopper for each patient she and her staff works with. By first inquiring and understanding the patient's specific fashion needs it is possible to ensure that they are always looking like their most fashionable self before they leave the eyeDOCS clinics. Furthermore, as the manager of the eyeDOCS Riverside South and eyeDOCS Barrhaven locations, Nathalie is responsible for the execution of best practice procedures, the recruitment and coaching of staff members and the management of the budgets for the locations where she is manager. Nathalie's vision for eyeDOCS is that each and every patient leaves the clinic not only seeing their best but looking great!
