Her dad was a Media Buyer as well as a Professor of Advertising at the University of Oregon, where she also continued her studies in Advertising. In 2004 Julie began working in television at a local broadcast station and learned the business from the inside out, from Traffic to National Sales to Local Account Executive. In addition to working on the broadcast side, Julie also learned the ins and outs of the agency world, working for ad agencies in the area, and eventually opened her own Agency in 2010, working with clients locally, regionally, and nationally. In 2019 Julie was excited to start a new journey and return to her roots in TV while focusing on the changing landscape of the digital world. Julie loves using her experience in crafting media strategies to help clients solve problems and create campaigns and plans that are efficient, effective, and get results. Bishop is a digital monetization and product specialist who has led transformational change in the local media industry for the past 16 years. She most recently served as VP Product for digital publishing SaaS provider LAKANA. In her role at Heartland, Bishop oversees all digital operations, strategy, monetization and business development of audience and revenue for the station group. She also oversees the company's new digital agency, PulseLocal Marketing. Prior to her time at LAKANA Bishop conceived and executed the formulation of Gray Digital Media (GDM) in 2002 under the leadership of then COO Bob Prather. She was the catalyst to a culture transformation of Gray's local television stations and the creation of their local digital properties by transforming a traditional media distribution company to focus on content gathering and syndication across multiple digital platforms. Bishop oversaw all digital initiatives including web, mobile, online operations, business development and revenue and monetization strategies. She also led the efforts to build out a fully supported digital agency, LocalX Marketing, offering solutions such as: responsive web site development, social media management, reputation management, database and email marketing management, and search engine management. Prior to this, Lisa led the first interactive team for Benedek Broadcasting, Benedek Interactive Media (BIM), from 2000-2002, bringing many local TV stations online for the first time. Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Montreat College in North Carolina. Additionally, she has earned a Masters of Business Administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management. She lives in the greater Chicago area with her husband and their two children.

She started in the Newspaper industry in the Online Department and quickly moved into the Digital Sales role. When the local TV station heard what the newspaper was doing with digital marketing sales, they asked her to join their team and build a digital sales program from the ground up. Her dream job! She was brought onto a sales team that had no experience with digital marketing. The first question was, what is an impression. She worked 1 on 1 with each TV Account Executives, training them on all digital marketing aspects. They quickly changed the culture. She had TV Account Executives talking the talk and walking the walk in the digital marketing world. In 2011 Smith Media hired a new VP/GM with a digital culture in mind and he quickly moved her into the Director of Digital Sales role. She began building the digital program with their Burlington Vermont TV station. In 2013 Smith Media sold their Burlington group to Nexstar and she dug into the Utica, New York station exclusively. She helped managed not only the digital sales operation but the day to day operations of the Business Office, Traffic Department, and Sales Team. She worked side by side with the VP/GM to increase station revenue and decrease expenses. In March 2014, Heartland Media acquired the Utica NY station and she remained the Director of Digital Sales and begin to build the Heartland Interactive division. Outside of her Director of Digital Sales role, Michelle has been married to her husband Michael for 30 years and they have two adult children, Alex and Kyle. They also have two furbabies, Scooter and Cooper who take up most of her free time.
