Alan began with a strong artistic interest for sculpture which coupled with a love for Halloween and film, quickly evolved to a vastly growing love for special effect creations in its various forms. He later went on to formal training in Set Design and Construction, then Black Smith training. Then acquiring an AA in Art, and Graduating from Cinema Makeup School; studying Special Makeup F/X.
