MICHAL NEM

He obtained his PhD from the Comenius University, Bratislava and joined academic research in 1985. He was awarded Royal Society, Amoco, Lise Meitner and Alexander von Humboldt fellowships at University of Wales, Cardiff, Imperial College London, University of Salzburg and University of Würzburg. He has held senior technical and leadership positions for 30 years, including Head of Hydrocarbon Exploration Department at Slovak Geological Survey (1996 - 1998), Head of Structural Geology Group at Energy & Geoscience Institute at University of Utah (2000 - 2022), Managing Director of the Laboratory of Geological Architecture (LAGEA) at Technical University Ostrava (2022-present), Founder and Director of the RM Geology (2009 - present) and is currently based in Bratislava... He co-invented several paleostress techniques, studied thrustbelts all over the world, with emphasis on Carpathians, Andes, Balkans, Variscides of Wales, Himalayas and Caucasus, co-developed numerical fracture location..
