Throughout human history, there have been various systematic ways of organizing and seeing societies. They've almost all been various forms of what we can accurately call forced-collectivism. They've ranged from primitive tribalism, to kingdoms ruled by what were seen as divine kings, and on, to various forms of mob rule, where instead of being ruled by tribal leaders and kings, people gained various degrees of relative freedoms, by forming groups and voting for things... The development of the United States of America brought new dimensions of human liberty onto the scene. Suddenly it was deemed that "all men were created equal, and were endowed with certain inalienable rights" that were thought to be immune from being taken away or "infringed" by previous forms of government. These were legitimately termed "human rights", or rights that rightfully belonged to individuals, which no one should have the power to take away.
