Alex Scott

A fourth generation business owner, Alex was previously Chair of his family owned business in the financial services sector. He was co-founder and is Joint Life President of the Institute for Family Business (UK), a Trustee of the Grosvenor Estate and is Chair of Grosvenor Food and AgTech. He is also a Trustee of several charitable organisations. Alex lives in Cumbria with his wife and three children.

Henry Dimbleby

Henry joined the Westmorland Family Board in 2022 and brings with him a wealth of experience. He was co-founder and CEO of Leon Restaurants and has been involved in several other food businesses. Henry has also worked on a number of government initiatives relating to food and the environment and was author of the National Food Strategy. Henry lives in London with his wife and three children.

Jane Lane

Daughter of John and Barbara Dunning. Jane is a shareholder of Chapel Beck Limited. Jane lives and farms in Norfolk with her husband and three sons. She leads the family farm in Cumbria, and sits on Cumbria CLA (Country Landowners Association) Committee and is a Trustee on the CLA Charitable Trust.

Laurence King

Laurence joined Westmorland Family in 2008 with over 20 years' experience as a Finance Director and more latterly as a Managing Director, for businesses including Baxi Partnership and Tetrad. With a background in chartered accountancy, Laurence trained and worked with KPMG. Laurence plays a strategic role across all the Westmorland Family businesses and worked on expanding the business into Gloucester; managing the lengthy planning, development and construction process.

Nabil Subuh - CEO

Nabil joined Westmorland Family in 2019 with over 17 years of sector experience as a senior director in retail and hospitality as a CEO, Managing Director, Commercial Director and Group Operations Director. Nabil was on the Senior Team of Welcome Break for more than 10 years and prior to that worked with Pret and Coffee Republic. Nabil leads the business driving success through people and shares the unique community-spirited values at the core of Westmorland Family.

Neil Austin - CFO

Neil joined Westmorland Family in 2023 with over 25 years' finance experience. He trained as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in Newcastle and spent 15 years with them in a variety of roles including audit and risk assurance across the North of England and nationally. He then spent 10 years as CFO of Carr's Group plc, an international FTSE listed group headquartered in Cumbria. Neil leads the finance function across the business and also has responsibility for technology and property.

Richard Pennycook

Richard joined the Westmorland Family board in 2023 and has had a broad career in the retail and hospitality industries having been, amongst others, CFO of Morrisons and CEO of the Co-op Group and of Welcome Break. Richard now holds a number of Non-Executive positions, including Wolf and Badger, Two Sisters Food Group, On the Beach Group, The Department of Education and until recently, Howdens. Richard grew up in Cockermouth and lives in York with his wife and two daughters.

Sarah Dunning

Daughter of John and Barbara Dunning. Sarah is a shareholder of Chapel Beck Limited. Sarah lives in Cumbria with her husband, daughter and son. She is Chair of Westmorland, Non-Executive Director of the family business Timpson Group and is a Trustee of the Francis C Scott Charitable Trust in Cumbria. Sarah started running the family business in 2005, after several years of working in the City. Champion of the business' values, Sarah has continually developed the business, taking on new sites and challenges; including the development of Gloucester Services and the redevelopment and acquisition of Cairn Lodge Services in Scotland. Sarah values the principles of good food and together with her sister Jane, who looks after the family's farm interest, they ensure the connection between farm and the wider business remains strong.
