WELLINGTON AFTER HOURS VETERINARY CLINIC (WAHVC) - Key Persons
Andy Maloney has been working as a vet since 1986 when he qualified from Bristol University. He moved to New Zealand and joined the After Hours Clinic team just a few months after it was first opened in 1996.
Anna has been working in the veterinary industry since 2016. She has a Certificate in Veterinary Nursing (UCOL) and is looking forward to finishing her Diploma towards the end of 2019.
Anna started working at WAHVC in mid-2018 and enjoys the challenges and rewards of emergency nursing.
In her spare time, she likes eating Parmesan cheese from the packet, travel, outdoor adventures, and naps.
Anna lives in the northern suburbs with her husband, a cat name
Cherie qualified as a vet nurse back in 2008 and has been working at WAHVC since 2011.
Although the work at WAHVC is challenging and emotional, Cherie thrives under the stressful and fast pace environment and finds the work very rewarding.
Kate has been employed by WAHVC since 2003 Long career mainly in small animal (often emergency) practice but have been known to spey the odd death adder.
Paul Bingham graduated from Massey University in 1987 and has a veterinary degree and a master's degree in epidemiology.
He is a member by examination and a past president of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVSc) epidemiology chapter.
Paul has worked at the Wellington After Hours Veterinary Centre for 5 years. Paul is a keen dinghy sailor and can often be found capsized in Evans Bay.
Sally graduated from Edinburgh University in 1996 and has been enjoying New Zealand life since 1999. Sally has been part of Wellington After Hours for the last 5 years.
She thrives on emergency work, and has completed a Masters paper in Emergency Medicine and Critical Care and is currently studying towards a Graduate Certificate in small animal emergencies.
Sam graduated with a Bachelor in Veterinary Technology from Massey University in 2017, tracking in small animals.
She joined the team in 2019 along with her Great Dane X Roo, who is a blood donor for the clinic. As a vet tech, Sam loves the work at Wellington After Hours Vet Clinic where she can apply her skills and care to critical patients.
Sam worked as an Anaesthetic Technician in a specialist hospital before moving home to Wellington, to the joy of her parents.
Sam and her cat Mac share a love of Marie Kondo, and after an intense shift, both can be found on the couch unwinding with Marie on the TV.
Tanya qualified with her Vet Nursing Diploma in 2017, after studying for 2 years at UCOL in Palmerston North.
She has been working at After hours since March 2018, alongside working at her normal day clinic. She is a very passionate and hard working nurse who enjoys the intensity of After hour care. WAHVC has given Tanya the opportunity to grow as a nurse and she is constantly learning and picking up new skills each shift.
In her down time she enjoys spending time with friends & family and horse riding. Her fur family consists of a beautiful old Burmese cat who is extremely affectionate and smoochy, although very vocal and attention seeking at times.
