While moving up the career ladder, I found that my focus on engineering slowly became overshadowed by managing people, business planning and change management. I have learned through these experiences that being a leader requires courage, positive thinking, influencing, perseverance and patience.

I'm a strong believer in such, and "I am constantly learning because I never settle" became my motto. During my free time, you might find me hiking or running! I also enjoy sitting at a beach listening to music as a form of relaxation.

In my 18 years in Sales, I have learned that the more I impart, the more I will learn. I have always enjoyed helping my family, friends and colleagues grow personally and professionally. In my free time, I read books on personal finance and self-improvement, enjoy gardening (which I miss after relocating over to Singapore) and holidays are almost always beaches.

I was grateful to be presented an opportunity to be in Human Resource back in 2017. I had put in a lot of hard work and dedication in the role, and it has laid quite a good foundation in my understanding of HR. As a leader and HR Generalist, I am constantly leading with the core value of respect and believe that a positive mindset helps to foster a better, and more strongly bonded team. I am willing to share the knowledge and experiences I gained whilst acknowledging my mistakes with the intent of always learning from them.

Meet Soo Mei, one of our hardworking Sales Engineers who has been with us for 7 years. She thinks the company is a great place to work at - and we couldn't agree more. In this Associate Spotlight, Soo Mei shares with us her journey in Swagelok, who she is and what allows her to bring her full self to work. Her main responsibility at Swagelok involves connecting with customers to understand their challenges, specific requirements and determine a unique solution to address their need. Most importantly, she ensures to bring them value while doing so. Swagelok and its associates take pride in providing our customers value in whatever we do - whether it is supporting a simple product enquiry or a building a complex assembly. We do this through a strong focus on our 6 values, a close connection to each other, and a shared inspiration to do the right thing. Recently, Soo Mei's biggest achievement was providing a 5-panel project for a customer. Despite being given a short lead time, she and her team of technicians, engineers and customer service managed to meet the end user's schedule. We appreciate their hard work! Outside of the office, Soo Mei frequently spends time with her family by visiting museums, parks, and playgrounds. She is a mother of an adorable little girl, and finds herself enjoying every minute with her when she is not working. Soo Mei's current role model is Coco Chanel, a French fashion designer and businesswoman, and one of the very practical things to cross off her bucket list is to pay off her housing loan. This is motivation for her to work harder, something we'll always support at Swagelok Singapore. Just like any other associates in here, Soo Mei is an essential part of our team that keeps the company going. We have made some great achievements and that is all thanks to their hard work and dedication. Our July Associate Spotlight features Soo Mei Ching, one of our talented Sales Engineers! She has been the embodiment of self-drive ever since she started at Swagelok, and we are proud of her growth and the well-deserved opportunities she has been given here.

I moved to Singapore because the fast-paced business environment and the diversity Singapore offers are suitable to my personality. Being a single contributor at Swagelok Singapore can be challenging but my colleagues' helping hands and our shared goal of making our customers happy has empowered me to be a true collaborator to make things happen. In my free time, you will find me enjoying the sea breeze while reading a book.

Meet Hui Ying, one of our customer service representatives. In our interview, she shares with us her inspirations and what it's like working at Swagelok.

Meet Patricia, one of our many valued team members at Swagelok Singapore! Patricia has been with us for 6 years working under the finance department. She is now an Account Receivable Supervisor, helping the company to ensure smooth payment and collection while also making sure the correct data has been entered in these financial transactions. As we have learned, Patricia is an introvert. She was too shy to do this interview with us but she was such a sport throughout the entire process despite her coyness. For that, we thank her for her bravery. Here at Swagelok, we encourage our associates to be courageous in anything that they do. One of Patricia's responsibilities include gathering payment from our customers. She faces them almost every day and encounter new challenges each time - but it is one of the things she enjoys about the role. She finds satisfaction in overcoming these challenges and also shared that she is good with numbers since young, so it is no surprise she excels in what she does. Her dedication, hard work, and positive attitude have not gone unnoticed, and she has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure the success of Swagelok Singapore. One of her biggest achievements here was shifting our hard-copy invoices to soft-copies and automating the invoicing process. Patricia was also part of the implementation team for our SAP integration! Being empowered here allows her to do her best work. Off the clock, Patricia prefers staying at home (a common activity for an introvert) and spends her time watching Dream Home Makeover on Netflix, sketching, painting, and listening to music. Although she prefers staying home, her bucket list include skydiving, an outdoor activity! Patricia is also eyeing to complete her Master's Degree in the near future. Swagelok Singapore consist of diverse personalities, but we are always a team. We are grateful to have Patricia as part of ours and look forward to seeing her continued growth and success. I find myself gravitating towards the thrill of striving in unfamiliar environments. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts (Chinese), I spent 10 years in the government across roles in human resource, public engagement, and strategic planning. In 2020, I took the plunge to challenge myself with Swagelok Singapore, taking my knack for problem-solving to the private sector for the first time. I love the adrenaline thrill of working here and look forward to developing myself in this industry! Outside of work, I'm all about my 3 Fs - Friends, Family and Food!

What I've noticed as I've grown in my career is the importance of the organization's core values.
