FIELDLAB

Welcome to Fieldlab. With interests in biology, gastronomy, graphics, images and music, Fieldlab was founded in South London in the early 1990s by me, Professor Mark C. Field, and is currently located in Cambridge, UK. My origins are in Hackney and I have the honour of being a true Cockney. I was educated at The Judd School in Tonbridge, Kent and Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and awarded first-class honours in Biochemistry, remaining at Oxford for doctoral studies. My postdoctoral career was intially at the Rockefeller University in New York and then Genentech and Stanford University in California. I established a research group at Imperial College London in the1990s, moved to the University of Cambridge in 2005 and the University of Dundee in 2013, retiring as Professor Emeritus in late 2025. I have authored over 500 research articles and abstracts, enjoyed an unbroken thirty five year publication record and continue to collaborate with many scientists in the UK, EU, North and South..
