At the age of 10 while watching my grandmother make pie crusts, I became fascinated with health. One of the ingredients, lard, did not melt like butter when left out. This led me to research what lard was. I discovered that lard was made from beef fat, and had negative impact on one's health and several diseases could result. From this early age I started to read ingredient lists on all food products and completely eliminated red meat from my diet... Around that same time I began to compete in team sports (basketball, softball, volleyball). I supported the local professional football, basketball, baseball, and hockey teams. I loved the camaraderie of teams and the goal to play to their best abilities... As an adult I have participated in many 10k runs, adult softball leagues, and disc golf. I am always up to play a pick-up game of most sports. At the age of 49 I checked off one of my bucket list items by completing a marathon.
