Dalia Obeid Ibrahim

Dalia Obeid Ibrahim is a Sudanese Associate. A graduate of the University of Khartoum, who started her working experience during her time at university by working in the Legal Aid Clinic in the Faculty of Law. Ms Dalia was able to get an early insight in criminal and civil cases where she was part of the team that provided legal advice on complaints. She also organised workshops and awareness programs on different constitutional rights in and out of the university as part of a project in cooperation with the UNDP. During her time at university, Ms Obeid also worked on projects with PLACE legal aid including researches on the rights of people with HIV virus in Sudan and children in conflict with the law. Shortly after graduating, and while preparing and sitting for the bar exam, Ms Obeid worked and volunteered as a teacher in Unity High School and Girls Orphanage Centre in Khartoum. After completing and passing the Sudanese bar exam in July 2016, Ms Obeid started her training with the Sudanese Human Rights Initiative on projects connected to the freedom of religion. Shortly afterwards, she joined Nabil Adib and Manal Awad Legal Firm between April 2017 until May 2019. Ms Obeid experienced working on a wide range of cases including labour, civil, criminal and constitutional claims, where she gained the experience in carrying out related procedures to litigation and drafting petitions, closing statements and appeals as required. Additionally, Ms Dalia worked before arbitration panels on a variety of cases presenting companies and individuals on construction agreements, cooperation agreements and contractual issues. Her involvement in the corporate sector mainly included registering companies, partnerships and business names, drafting and amending contracts; dealership, cooperation, and partnership agreements, and conducting negotiations thereto. Ms Dalia completed several courses throughout her career including the arbitration general course with the Centre of Arbitration and Conciliation, Leadership course with Alkhatim Adlan. Recently, Ms Dalia took the first part of the QLTS examinations to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales, and is currently preparing to sit for the final part in the coming year.

El-Amin Omara

El-Amin Omara is a Commissioner of Oaths and Lawyer and is SCLO's Real Estate and Administrative Law practice leader. Mr. Omara worked for the National Electricity Corporation (NEC) for more than 32 years, where he was responsible for the organisation's land portfolio, providing him with a thorough understanding of real estate issues involving land registration, expropriation and allocation. In this role, he was also responsible for negotiating settlements for those affected by building of dams, thermal, solar and wind electricity plants. Mr. Omara's vast experience includes advising local and foreign investors on projects in the land and energy sectors, as he brings substantial expertise in this area, garnered through his unprecedented work with NEC. He received two higher diplomas in public & private law, and earned a Master's degree in Administrative Law in 2009. Mr. Omara's work has also included serving as the legal advisor to the Ministry of Electricity & Dams.

Fawzia El-Amin

Fawzia El- Amin is the highly accomplished head of SCLO's Energy, Natural Resources & Environmental law practices. She graduated from the Faculty of Law University of Khartoum in 1974, and then went on to join the Attorney General's Chamber (Now the Ministry of Justice). Following, Mrs. El-Amin became a private practicing lawyer and oath commissioner until she re-joined the Ministry of Justice in 2002 to serve in the legislative and contracts sections, and then seconded to the National Electricity Corporation (NEC). From 2010 - 2011 she served as head of the translation department at the Ministry of Justice, and she was later appointed as the head of the legal administration in the Ministry of Water Resources, Irrigation and Electricity. In this role, she worked alongside the Nuclear Power Generation Unit and in renewable energy departments working on matters concerning contract negotiations and drafting. Mrs. El-Amin was an associate member of a United Nations program held in Vienna concerning insolvency out-boundaries in 2010, and she represented the Sudanese Government in the course of drafting regulations regarding the first nuclear power plant in Sudan. In addition she represented the Ministry of Electricity and Water Resources in negotiations with the People's Republic of China in various transactions. She has been an associate member of the Common Authority of the River Nile, and also was a member of the Pan-Arab Electrical Marketing where she represented the Sudanese Government in reviewing and revising the electrical interconnection sponsored by the Arab League and the World Bank. Currently, she's acting as a member of the English version of the Sudanese laws volumes revision committee.

Maisoon Idrees

Maisoon Idrees is the SCLO Facilities and Logistics Manager. Mrs Idrees graduated from the University of Alneeleen in 2002 with a BSc in Philosophy. Prior to joining SCLO, she worked for an investment company, an educational institution, worked as a translator and also as a PA. Naglaa Osman

Mrs Osman has extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation. She represented many local and foreign companies in the courts and arbitral tribunals in disputes related to construction in many regions in Sudan in industries including the oil industry before secession of South Sudan. She also worked in disputes related to oil contracts as an assistant to Mr Zaki Abdul Rahman Mohammed Khair, who was often chosen as the head of the arbitral tribunal in oil disputes. Mrs Osman also has the experience of reviewing all types of commercial contracts ensuring client's expectations are met. She has sound experience in company liquidation. Mrs Osman advises clients in all aspects of Labour Law and she represented employers and employees in Labour disputes. She helps clients to register and renew their Trademarks. Mrs Osman graduated from the University of Khartoum in 1999 and passed the Bar Exam in 2000,receiving her lawyer's license in 2001. She has worked in many prestigious law practices in Khartoum including Mr Zaki Abdul Rahman Mohammed Khair. She was awarded an LLM in International Private Law (Conflict of Laws) in 2017.

Wael Abdin - CEO, Founder

Mr. Abdin advises international and regional law firms and major multinational corporations operating in Sudan. His areas of specialisation include corporate mergers and acquisitions, project financing, alternative dispute resolution and joint venture structuring. He has also represented clients in arbitration proceedings in disputes related to construction, intellectual property and commercial contracts. Mr. Abdin earned his Master's in Law degree from the University of Khartoum in 2005 and was the recipient of the highly-coveted Chevening Scholarship. He received a second master degree in International Business Law with merit from the University of Manchester in 2006. In addition, Mr. Abdin was awarded an International Practice Diploma in International Joint Ventures from the College of law of England and Wales, which was funded by a scholarship from the International Bar Association (IBA). Among his many career recognitions, Mr. Abdin takes great pride in being one of very few African lawyers selected for the International Lawyers for Africa Program (ILFA) in London in 2007, where he served a three month secondment with international law firm Dentons. Through his work with Dentons, Mr. Abdin strengthened and broadened his experience in energy, infrastructure, project finance, and telecommunications. The ILFA project also included an external training program in many city law firms and universities, including Allan & Overy, Clifford Chance, Herbert Smith, Linklaters, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Berwin Leighton Paisner, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge and the World Bank. While Mr. Abdin has a traditional western education, his experience makes him uniquely suited to counsel clients on how to best work in Sudan and other developing countries. He has successfully passed the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Scheme (administered by the Solicitors Regulation Authority) and has now been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales. A published author and frequent speaker on financial and corporate law, Mr. Abdin is often asked to render legal opinions to international law firms regarding aspects of Sudanese law related to alternative dispute resolution, investments, corporate law, commercial law, banking and labour and employment. He is a member of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and a former member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He also rendered several legal opinions to international law firms regarding aspects of Sudanese legal issues in relation to ADR, investment, corporate, commercial, banking and labour.
