ST. ISIDORE PROJECT

The St. Isidore Project was founded by two brothers from Northern Virginia who saw a need in their local community. Their desire to live out their faith combined with their knowledge of gardening..... Our mission is to feed the local community, educate people on sustainable agriculture, and promote the dignity of the person by building self reliance..... They face not only an insufficient amount of food, but also a lack of access to fresh, nutritious produce. Feeding America reports that one-third of people using food banks have diabetes and 58% have a family member with high blood pressure. The Chicago Tribune reports that 55% of individuals using food banks desire fresh produce, but cannot get it at their local food pantry. With the use of church lands and volunteer support, the St. Isidore Project provides fresh fruits and vegetables to local food pantries through a method we like to call micro-distributed farming.
