Bio Alex has been representing a diverse group of foreign and domestic businesses in a variety of industries and commercial sectors since 1995 while working in several intellectual property boutique law firms and consulting with the in-house trademark group of a multi-national hospitality industry company. Alex counsels businesses at all stages of development, assessing and searching the availability of marks; establishing, enforcing and maintaining trademark and service mark rights; resolving intellectual property disputes; handling internet domain name IP issues, anti-counterfeiting matters, copyright prosecution, IP licensing and transactional matters, and intellectual property research and due diligence investigations. Alex's practice covers all facets of trademark prosecution and practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and virtually every trademark office around the world with the help of an extensive network of foreign associates.

Alexander Jonathan Brittin

Bio Alexander Jonathan Brittin is an Associate Attorney at Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig. Jonathan is from the DC area and graduated from Landon School in 2011. He continued his studies at the University of Delaware, graduating with a BA in political science. Jonathan attended the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he enjoyed writing a research paper in Government Contract Law and participated in the Immigration Law Clinic. He interned at the Department of Health and Human Services and received his LLM in Government Contract Law at the George Washington Law School in the Fall of 2022. In addition to law, he enjoys skiing and playing tennis.

Anna Kinney

Bio Anna Kinney is a Patent Agent at Dunlap Bennet & Ludwig. Anna has been working with patent applications since 2005, when she served as a Patent Examiner at the USPTO. As a Patent Agent, she has worked with a variety of technology ‘arts', from beading craft tools to catalyzed reactions. Anna has a BS in Chemical Engineering from University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She has also completed coursework in Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech. Anna is active with the League of Women Voters of Loudoun County and serves on the Board. She lives in Loudoun County with her husband and two adult children. Ashley Miller

Bio Ashley Miller is Of Counsel at Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig and has represented individuals in a variety of estate planning matters. As an estate planning attorney, Ms. Miller advises clients on planning for family financial needs, probate avoidance, and incapacity. Ms. Miller has prepared hundreds of estate plans, including trusts, wills, financial powers of attorney, advance medical directives, living wills, and documents of anatomical gift. She currently owns and operates a yoga studio in Round Hill, Virginia. Ashley received her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law and concentrated her legal education in various areas, including estate planning and litigation.

Bio Ben Barlow's practice mainly focuses on litigation. Ben graduated from Bridgewater College in 1997 with a BA in History and Political Science. After graduating, Ben spent a year in AmeriCorps and then went on to do post-graduate work in Psychology and Education at James Madison University. In 2004 Ben graduated from the University Of Richmond School Of Law, receiving the Family Law and Outstanding Oral Advocate graduation awards and being named to the Order of Barristers Honor Society. Bernard E. Goodman

Barney Goodman is a Partner with Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig who specializes in resolution of business and construction disputes, mechanics liens, real estate, foreclosures, and contract, corporate and employment disputes as well assisting clients in their business and real estate transactions. Barney litigates in state and federal courts and frequently does appellate work in the Virginia Supreme Court. He is often called upon to give expert testimony on the topics of real estate law and attorney fees. Barney has served as Chairman of the Judicial Screening, Long Range Planning and Professionalism Committees of the Fairfax Bar Association. Barney is AV ®-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell® Peer-Review Ratings, the highest rating available for excellence in legal ethics and practice. Barney graduated with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He then received his J.D. at Case Western University Reserve School of Law. Bio Brian Medich is an Associate at Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig. Mr. Medich provides counsel regarding a wide array of intellectual property matters, primarily focused on patent and trademark litigation. Prior to joining Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig, Mr. Medich received his Juris Doctor from The George Washington University Law School and concentrated his legal education in intellectual property and entertainment. During law school, Mr. Medich clerked for the New Jersey Public Defender Office, and then later for a product liability and class action boutique in Washington, DC. Calvin Smith - Chief Legal Officer

Bio Calvin focuses his practice on commercial and business litigation and the representation of national, regional, and community banks in bankruptcy proceedings, workouts, loan restructurings, foreclosures, commercial collection actions, and related matters. Calvin served as law clerk to the Honorable Ross W. Krumm, then Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia from 1999-2001. Since 2001, he has been representing creditors in bankruptcy court, including litigation in numerous adversary proceedings and contested matters. Earlier in his career, Calvin represented debtors and official unsecured creditors' committees in cases ranging from simple Chapter 7 liquidations to complex Chapter 11 restructurings to the bankruptcy of an economic development authority under Chapter 9, and those experiences have helped him better serve his creditor clients. As many troubled businesses never end up in bankruptcy court, Calvin regularly negotiates loan modifications, represents clients in state court litigation, advises clients on repossession of equipment, conducts real estate foreclosures, and handles related matters. He also reviews loan documents in order to identify potential concerns and strengthen his clients' positions prior to bankruptcy or litigation. Calvin handles a variety of litigation in state and federal courts, including the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, including title defense work, modular and manufactured housing issues, and employee non-compete agreements. Calvin also represents churches and advises them on issues ranging from incorporation to litigation, and he has extensive experience with church lending issues. Calvin attended the National Trial Advocacy College, a six-day, intensive litigation training program held annually at the University of Virginia School of Law, in 2008. He has served on the faculty of the annual Mid-Atlantic Institute on Bankruptcy and Reorganization Practice and has taught other CLE courses in the areas of bankruptcy, landlord-tenant law, and collections. Calvin volunteers as the 5th and 6th Grade Commissioner for the Western Loudoun Basketball League and also as a coach. He has served on the Susan G. Komen - Virginia Blue Ridge Give Day Committee, was a speaker at the 2013 Race for the Cure, and has raised funds for breast cancer research, education, and testing. He has served as a ruling elder, Sunday School teacher, and small group leader at Christ the King Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, as a member of an ad hoc committee mediating an intra-church dispute, and currently as a lector at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Purcellville, VA. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, an IT executive, and their four children at the beach as well as playing basketball and softball.

Prior to joining Dunlap Bennett & Ludwig, Ms. Lusk worked extensively on qui tam/False Claims Act cases involving the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, government construction and infrastructure contracts, and financial industries, as well as advising corporate clients on government ethics and accountability, lobbyist regulations and registration, and government procurement regulations. Catherine grew up in Quebec, Canada and is fluent in both English and French.
