Alyssa Varvel

Alyssa Lauren Varvel joined Orion Physical Therapy Specialists in 2015, as our Office Manager. Originally from Northern California, she moved to Ohio in 2008 to attend Wright State University, Pre-Medicine/Biology & Psychology, graduating with her Bachelors degree in 2012. She has a professional background in sales, customer service and human resources. Alyssa lives just outside of Dayton, with her husband, Ryan and their daughter, Olivia. She enjoys being outdoors, great food, traveling and being with her family.

Dr. Alex Nagy

Dr. Alex Nagy earned his Bachelor's in Pre-Physical Therapy in 2018 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2021 both from the University of Dayton. His doctoral research focused on the relationship between the use of prosthetic devices and the ability to take recovery steps to maintain balance. During Alex's clinical rotations he worked with diverse patient populations in a variety of clinical setting including skilled nursing facilities, inpatient spinal cord rehabilitation, and outpatient orthopedic clinics. He loves working with a diverse patient population and has helped individuals with a variety of injuries. Alex has enjoyed becoming a part of the local community. Outside of the clinic Alex enjoys being outdoors, playing recreational sports, running with family and friends, hiking around the Dayton Metroparks, and exploring the Greater Dayton area.

Dr. Danny Rodriguez

Dr. Danny Rodriguez graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Dayton, where he also received his Master's in Science Education. He received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Physiology from Ohio Northern University, where he was a collegiate athlete for 4 years on the baseball team. Danny is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He has experience in the areas of baseball, football, and basketball at the high school, collegiate, and professional level. His areas of interest include the athletic population, as well as manual therapy. When not in the clinic, enjoys spending time with his family, staying active through exercise and recreational sports (basketball and golf), and is an avid sports fan.

Dr. Kim Parent

Dr. Kim Parent graduated with her Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology and Nutrition from Miami University in 2015, where she also minored in 2D Media Studies. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Dayton in 2018. During her time at the University of Dayton, Dr. Parent's area of doctoral research focused on the relationship between psychological factors, objective measures of function, and perceived upper extremity function in breast cancer patients. Dr. Parent is the Site Coordinator of Clinical Education (SCCE) at Orion Physical Therapy Specialists. Her areas of treatment focus include orthopedic injuries, manual therapy, chronic pain and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. When not in the clinic, Dr. Parent enjoys hiking and playing basketball and volleyball, as well as coaching youth sports.

Dr. Philip Anloague

Dr. Anloague is a Special Consultant for the Indiana Pacers and is a Research Consultant for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, and Philadelphia 76ers. He conducts and has published research related to the utility of functional and clinical measures as they relate to sports injury prevention and rehabilitation. He has also published research in the areas of: shoulder injuries in overhead athletes, neurodynamics, and spinal anatomy. Dr. Anloague is the Associate Provost for Graduate Academic Affairs and was the Founding Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Dayton and Directs the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. He has a passion for teaching and learning and presents numerous continuing medical education seminars annually. His presentation topics include the rehabilitation of the spine, therapeutic exercise, the throwing athlete, diagnostic imaging, and neurodynamics.

Ellen Vaughn

Ellen Vaughn joined Orion Physical Therapy Specialists in 2018 as our part-time administrative assistant. She grew up in Michigan and graduated from Saint Mary's College (Notre Dame, IN) with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and was a member of the tennis team. Upon graduation, Ellen worked in the retail field and then for a benefits consulting company before moving to Ohio in 1995. Ellen lives in Oakwood with her husband, Jim. She stayed home to raise their three daughters for twenty-one years. During this time she volunteered at their schools, in the community and with her church. She is an avid runner who has completed over a dozen marathons (including six Bostons). She enjoys all sports, being on a beach and loves to cheer on the UD Flyers!

Sue Freese

Sue Freese graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2000 as a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). Sue has been practicing for 15 years in outpatient orthopedics and subacute care, specializing in manual therapy. Her previous professional experiences with Miami Valley Hospital and Ortho Advantage; coupled with her own Women's Health issues, have profoundly shaped her desire to help others struggling with lumbo-pelvic dysfunctions. Prior to this, Sue graduated in 1995 from the Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. Since joining the Orion team in 2013, she has been an integral part of our Women's Health Program. She assists Dr. Wendy Chorny with manual therapy, exercise, and patient education for our pelvic pain and incontinence patients. Sue resides in Centerville with her husband Clint and their two children. She enjoys gardening, hiking, singing, and playing with her kids.
