Sarah L. Merkatoris

Sarah L. Merkatoris joined Glasgow & Olsson in 2023, focusing primarily on criminal and family law. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin- Madison in 2015 with honors, Ms. Merkatoris worked in supply chain management for four years before obtaining a Juris Doctorate degree from DePaul University College of Law in 2022. During law school, Ms. Merkatoris served as Business Manager of the DePaul University Law Review Journal, Director of Communication for the Public Interest Law Association, and Teaching Assistant for the Legal Writing and Academic Success Programs. Additionally, Ms. Merkatoris earned the CALI Award (highest grade in the class) for Federal Income Taxation, Corporate Taxation, and Negotiations. Prior to joining Glasgow & Olsson, Ms. Merkatoris worked as an associate attorney at a general practice law firm, focusing primarily on local prosecution and civil dispute resolution. Ms. Merkatoris has experience negotiating criminal plea agreements, appealing administrative decisions, and litigating contentious issues.

Stephanie Olsson

Stephanie Olsson compassionately and aggressively represents clients in an array of domestic relations proceedings. Domestic relations proceedings include divorce matters, parentage cases wherein the parties were not married but have children as a result of a dating relationship, child support and orders of protection. Ms. Olsson represents clients in Cook County, Lake County, McHenry County and Kane County. Additionally, Ms. Olsson represents clients before the Illinois Secretary of State to petition for reinstatement of driving privileges. After graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago, magna cum laude and with honors, Ms. Olsson went on to receive a Juris Doctor in 2006 from Northern Illinois University College of Law. While in law school, Ms. Olsson placed first for her Appellate Court argument and was a member of the trial team. With more than ten years of experience, Ms. Olsson has represented domestic relations clients with marital estates ranging from a nominal amount to multi-million dollar estates, creatively solved issues concerning scheduling parenting time for clients with work hours outside of a standard 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. work day, valued and divided businesses between spouses, aggressively argued for more parenting time for her clients when the other parent was not agreeable to additional parenting time, addressed pension valuation and division, argued at numerous court hearings and proceeded to trial when a settlement was not feasible or in her client's best interest. Ms. Olsson practices law with an eye towards narrowing the contested issues so clients are not overburdened financially from the divorce while having to handle the emotional-side of the matter. Ms. Olsson spends time with each client to ensure each client understands both the weaknesses and strengths within their case so clients can make informed decisions, with Ms. Olsson's guidance, on how to proceed on an issue within his or her case. More than once, Ms. Olsson was named a Rising Star in the domestic relations field which is an honor bestowed upon only a small group of domestic relations attorneys. Further, Ms. Olsson is a published author in the genre of Illinois Secretary of State driver's license hearings and has taught at several Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education seminars on the topics of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs and driver's license reinstatement. She has successfully negotiated settlements in excess of $8,000,000.00 for our clients.
