Dr. Albert W. Gillespy

Dr. Albert W. Gillespy is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and long-time resident of the Daytona Beach area. He is the son of Dr. Thurman Gillespy Jr., who founded The Orthopedic Clinic in 1961, and joined the practice his father started after completing his residency in 1987. He is joined by his brother Mark, who started at the clinic in 1992. Dr. Gillespy and his wife, Doreen, are parents of two daughters: Danielle earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is working at Halifax Health Medical Center in neonatal and labor-delivery care, and is currently studying to become a Nurse Practitioner. Lauren is currently enrolled in the Master of Science Physician Assistant studies program at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Brandon A. Simonetta

Dr. Brandon Simonetta is an orthopedic surgeon who is a Florida native, born in the St. Petersburg area. Dr. Simonetta joined The Orthopedic Clinic in August 2023 with special interests and fellowship training in spine surgery. He also has extensive experience in orthopedic trauma. While completing his fellowship at Sonoran spine, Dr. Simonetta trained with numerous excellent spine surgeons including deformity specialist Dr. Michael Chang, who learned directly from world-renowned spine surgeons Dr. Lawrence Lenke and Dr. Daniel Riew. Dr. Simonetta received his medical degree from The SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He immediately followed with a 5-year residency in orthopedic surgery at Orlando Health in central Florida. He then went on to complete his Spine Surgery fellowship at Sonoran Spine in the Phoenix, Arizona area where he simultaneously performed research on adjacent segment disease. In his personal life, Dr. Simonetta likes to spend time with his family and friends. He takes interest in hiking, camping, sports, reading, technology, video games, and computer programming. His favorite sports teams are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays, Orlando Magic, and Tampa Bay Lightning.

Dr. Christopher J. Matthews

Dr. Christopher Matthews is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in hand and upper extremity surgery. He specializes in treatment of all conditions involving the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hands, in both adults and children. Dr. Matthews is trained in arthroscopy, minimally invasive surgical approaches, and microvascular surgery. He has particular interest in arthritis surgery of the hand and wrist, shoulder surgery, peripheral nerve surgery, and trauma of the upper extremity. He also believes in a personal approach to care and prioritizes taking the time to understand a patient's individual concerns, provide education on treatment options, and develop a collaborative plan of care. He grew up in Tarpon Springs, FL and was awarded the John V. Lombardi scholarship to attend the University of Florida. Prior to attending medical school, he participated in the highly selective Junior Honors Medical Program. Dr. Matthews received his medical degree from the University of Florida, where he led medical outreach trips to the Yucatán peninsula of Mexico and where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After receiving his M.D., he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Florida, where he was elected administrative chief resident. After residency, he completed his fellowship training in hand, upper extremity, and microvascular surgery at the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center, one of the most prestigious fellowships in the country. He has published clinical and basic science research papers, as well as presented his work at national and international meetings. He has also served as a reviewer for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Orthopedic Video Theater, and he has been recognized as an Emerging Leader by the American Orthopaedic Association.

Dr. Dominic V. Marino

Dr. Dominic Marino is a board eligible orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in total joint surgery and specializes in treating all conditions involving the hip and knee in adults and children. Dr. Marino joined The Orthopedic Clinic in August 2023. Dr. Marino is trained in anterior hip replacement, partial and total knee replacement, robotic-assisted surgery, muscle-sparing surgery, and arthroscopy surgery. He focuses on same-day total joint replacement procedures. He is particularly interested in arthritis surgery of the hip and knee and trauma of the lower extremity. His fellowship education furthered his expertise in taking care of patients with complex, failed, or infected joint replacements in need of a revision surgery. He also believes in a personal approach to care and prioritizes taking the time to understand a patient's individual concerns, provide education on treatment options, and develop a collaborative care plan. He grew up in Queensbury, NY, and pursued a degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester. Prior to attending medical school, Dr. Marino patented and constructed a medical device that enables stroke survivors, upper extremity amputees, and others with the use of one hand to participate in the sport of cycling, providing an outlet for recreation and rehabilitation. Dr. Marino received his medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was involved in medical outreach trips to Haiti and was inducted into the Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Medical Society. After receiving his Doctorate, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at Michigan State University. After residency, he completed his fellowship training in adult reconstruction and complex hip and knee revision at The Florida Orthopaedic Institute, internationally recognized for orthopaedic innovation. He has published clinical and basic science research papers and presented his work at national meetings. He has also served as a reviewer for the Journal of Arthroplasty. As a surgeon at The Orthopedic Clinic, Dr. Marino sees patients at the following locations: Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, and Port Orange. In his personal life, Dr. Marino is married to an obstetrician gynecologist and has two young children. He enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, fishing, boating, golf, college football, and traveling.

Dr. James M. Bryan

Dr. James M. Bryan is a board certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained and board certified in sports medicine. Dr. Bryan joined The Orthopedic Clinic over 20 years ago. Dr. Bryan is passionate about identifying the best method to successfully treat his patients. He's especially interested in using minimally invasive techniques so his patients may experience less discomfort and faster recovery times. Dr. Bryan brings a sports medicine perspective to all the surgeries and treatments that he performs. This includes reconstructive procedures like total knee, total hip and shoulder resurfacing, reverse shoulder and total shoulder arthroplasty procedures. He has an esteemed reputation for performing some of the most complex orthopedic surgeries including revision shoulder, hip, and knee reconstructions.

Dr. Jeffrey W. Martin

Dr. Jeffrey W. Martin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Florida native, born and raised in Pompano Beach. He joined The Orthopedic Clinic in 2005 and has special interests in sports medicine, joint replacement, and traumatic injuries. Dr. Martin's training and expertise with sports related injuries have allowed him to work with athletes at the collegiate and professional level. This included participating in the 2005 NFL Scouting Combine on behalf of the San Francisco 49ers as an orthopedic physician. At The Orthopedic Clinic, Dr. Martin uses many of the principles he learned during his extensive orthopedic training, including the art of minimally invasive techniques, so his patients experience less discomfort and faster recovery times.

Dr. Lindsay T. Lucas

Dr. Lindsay T. Lucas is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon who was born and raised in Georgia. Dr. Lucas joined The Orthopedic Clinic in September 2022 with special interests and training in orthopedic trauma, complex fracture management, non-unions, and total hip joint replacement. Dr. Lucas received her medical degree from The University of Queensland School of Medicine-Ochsner Clinical School. She immediately followed with a 5-year residency in orthopedic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. Then, she completed her Orthopedic Trauma fellowship at Hughston Clinic.

Dr. Mark C. Gillespy

Dr. Mark C. Gillespy is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and a long time resident of the Daytona Beach area. He is the son of Dr. Thurman Gillespy Jr., who founded The Orthopedic Clinic in 1961, and joined the practice his father started after completing his residency in 1992. Dr. Gillespy is passionate about developing and perfecting innovative methods to treat his patients so they experience shorter hospitalizations or outpatient procedures with faster recovery times. His total hip joint replacement surgeries are performed through a direct anterior approach, which avoids cutting of any hip muscles. He has adopted the "bikini" incision which heals quickly and leaves a cosmetically favorable scar. He is also one of the few doctors in the Daytona area who performs Birmingham Hip Resurfacing surgery. This innovative technique preserves more of the patient's original joint. He has perfected minimally invasive approaches to help patients with spinal disc conditions, spinal fractures, and spinal fusion surgeries. For his lumbar discectomy surgeries - the most commonly performed spinal procedure, - he has been the first surgeon in the State of Florida to offer patients the Barricaid device, which has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of a recurrent herniation and associated future surgery in patients at higher risk."

Dr. Richard C. Sims

Dr. Richard C. Sims is a board certified interventional pain management physician. He brings a number of services to The Orthopedic Clinic including diagnostic procedures to aid in the surgical evaluation of patients, advanced techniques for treating pain, and placement of implantable devices for pain control. Dr. Richard Sims received his medical degree from the Florida State University College of Medicine. He immediately followed his M.D. with a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Florida, Department of Anesthesiology and then a fellowship there in multidisciplinary pain management. During his undergraduate and medical education, he received numerous scholarships and honors, including Chronic Pain Outstanding Resident of the Year. He has presented his research and publications on pain management to fellow physicians around the country.

Dr. Richard K. Gaines

Dr. Richard K. Gaines is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Florida native raised in Daytona Beach. Dr. Gaines has special interests in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the knee and shoulder, as well as procedures of the hip, including total hip joint replacement surgery. Dr. Gaines has been practicing in Volusia County since 1992 and joined The Orthopedic Clinic in 2015. Dr. Gaines is passionate about serving the Daytona Beach community he grew up in. His orthopedic expertise has led to his involvement with several local sports teams, including Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, the Daytona Cubs professional baseball team, and several high schools. Dr. Gaines is also the Clinical Instructor for the Florida State College of Medicine. He and his wife, Susan, are proud parents of three children.

Dr. Todd A. McCall is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who was born and raised in southern Illinois. Dr. McCall joined The Orthopedic Clinic in 2007 with special interests and training in orthopedic trauma, complex fracture management, non-unions, and total hip joint replacement. Dr. McCall is passionate about helping patients with complex fractures, traumatic injuries, and those in need of hip reconstruction or replacement surgery. He developed his techniques for trauma and fracture care while working at Methodist Hospital, one of the busiest Level 1 Trauma Centers in the United States. Dr. McCall completed his internship and residency at the University of Florida and remains an avid Gators fan.

Before joining TOC as the CEO, Stewartson served as the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of MCR Health Services in Manatee County. She also held the position of Chief Operating Officer at Coastal Orthopedics & Pain Management in Bradenton, Florida. Additionally, she contributed her expertise as the Vice-President for Advent Health's outpatient imaging enterprise within the Central Florida market. Stewartson's educational background is equally impressive, holding a Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiologic Sciences from Adventist University.
