ATHENS EDC

Athens Economic Development Corporation (AEDC) was established in 1989 after voters elected to permit the corporation to receive a dedicated half-cent sales tax to fund the economic growth of Athens. These funds can be used in multiple ways to assist companies with things such as infrastructure improvements... Athens is well connected to all compass points of middle and East Texas via federal, state and county roads and about an hour's drive from the 5th largest metroplex in the U.S. There are over 900 people employed in biomedical research and manufacturing. The city is growing, enhancing and strengthening its workforce every year, yet Athens maintains it's small town feel.
