Rahameen Matthews was born and raised in the Springfield/Belmont neighborhood of Newark, New Jersey, where he was raised by his grandparents. They instilled in Mr. Matthews at an early age the importance of hard work, accountability, and the importance of entrepreneurship. Growing up in poverty led to Mr. Matthews' introduction to general contracting. On many occasions his family would not be able to afford to hire a plumber or other serviceperson, so Mr. Matthews would often assist his grandfather with repairs around the house. After graduating from Newark's Malcolm X. Shabazz High School, Mr. Matthews began to lay the foundation for his dreams of becoming a multifaceted businessman.
