Chris Doran

Chris's experience in the fine interior preparation and painting industry extends back to his childhood when he and his brother Tom worked summers and weekends for their father, Tom, Sr. in the family's business, Paint-Tech Associates, Inc. At age 5, Chris began filling nail holes and painting closets. He learned the trade while on the job. "I was brought up in the business and have been my father's right hand man from a young age all the way up to today in our Madison Avenue office" he says."I learned from the best." Chris manages field operations for Star-Tech, supervising projects and crews to ensure exceptional quality and artistry. His meticulous attention to detail elevates every project to the next a level.

Monica Gotz

Gotz was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and moved to New York City in 1990. She can trace her painting roots to four generations of decorative painters and gilders in Hof, Germany. After a successful career as a graphic designer and illustrator, she began painting professionally in 1999. As a part of the Robert Star team for over 10 years, Monica's traditional skills of marbling, gilding, and trompe l'oeil to unusual finishes and color-matching, have graced the walls of homes from Manhattan to Connecticut and beyond. Monica is now thrilled to be a part of the Star-Tech team.

Robert Robinson, founder & president of Robert•Star, Inc., and Thomas Doran, founder & president of Paint-Tech Associates, Inc., are pleased to announce an alliance and formation of a new company Star-Tech. Robert Star, Inc. founder Robert Robinson grew up within the general contracting culture of his family's century-old London-based business, F.G. Robinson Ltd. He is proud to share this legacy with Robert Star clients. At a very early age Robert Robinson was influenced by the workings of his family's century-old London-based painting and contracting business F.G. Robinson Ltd. After completing an apprenticeship with the firm, he carried his family legacy to Canada in the early 1970s, and eventually to the United States. In Canada, Robert applied his skills to luxury real estate sales and property management. In 1979, the immense opportunity of the Manhattan market drew him to New York City, where he joined the Douglas Elliman firm and recognized the need for quality, first class service in the decorative finishes genre. In 1982 Robert combined his family legacy and real estate management skills to found Robert Star, Inc., focusing exclusively on high-end painting, decorative finishes and wall covering installation. Robert's unique perspective on his clients' goals distinguished him from his contemporaries and earned him an exclusive clientele of socialites, celebrities, contractors, architects and decorators who value his creative flair and ability to maneuver within his industry as an advocate for their goals. His ability to collaborate with renowned industry leaders ensures consistent quality, beauty and consummate professionalism. Robert brings his executive level skills and expertise in client relations to Star-Tech. Sanja Milinovic

Artist Sanja Milinovic is originally from Zagreb, Croatia, where she studied textiles and design. She travelled to Paris to study sculpture for two years, then relocated to New York City where she continued her artistic pursuits at Parsons School of Design and the National Academy Museum and School. "Sanja has a fine hand for decorative finishes," says Star-Tech Co-Founder Robert Robinson. She handled touch-up and finishing work for Robinson's company Robert Star, and multi-tasked in a key administrative role, managing the office and serving as Robinson's assistant for two decades. Previously, she honed her detail-oriented approach to office management at a Madison Avenue law firm and advanced her artistic expertise at a sculpture studio in Long Island City. At Star-Tech, Sanja primarily handles office administration while occasionally working in the field, assisting with fine finishing and color consultation.

Tom Doran, Sr. - Founder

Tom Doran IV learned the trade of fine interior preparation and painting from his father, Tom, Sr., while in the field with him at very young age. He and his brother Chris spent weekends and summers on job sites gaining experience in techniques, artistry and client relations. Before officially joining his family's business, Paint-Tech Associates, Inc., as a trained estimator, Tom IV graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and enjoyed a high-profile career as a chef and restaurateur. It was here that he sharpened his skill of maintaining finesse under pressure. Today, Tom IV specializes in state-of-the art project estimating for Star-Tech, taking a forensic approach that provides clients with itemized, digitized project estimates. "Every stone is unturned," says Tom IV. "Our process is extremely thorough and our turn around time is fast." "If you're going to paint, you might as well be the best," says master painter Tom Doran, Sr., whose hands-on industry experience established his family business, Paint-Tech Associates, Inc., as a leader in the fine interior preparation and painting world. He now brings that superior standard to Star-Tech. Tom, Sr. studied fine-finishes, glazing, marbleizing, trompe l'oeil and color consulting at Day Studios in San Francisco. He founded Paint-Tech in 1981, focusing on large-scale high-end projects in Manhattan, Long Island and The Hamptons. His early career included specialty projects in Austria, Germany and The Netherlands. In 2005, he established Paint-Tech's Madison Avenue office-now home to Star-Tech-and shifted his focus toward business development and client relations. His sons, Tom IV and Chris, in time joined the family business, bringing executive and project management experience. Throughout his career, Tom, Sr. has adhered to the old fashioned values of truth, loyalty and honesty. "This approach doesn't seem to exist much anymore," he says, "but it's a definite winner."
