ELMWOOD CHURCH

Elmwood Church has a rich history of gospel ministry in the Twin Cities. The congregation began with a small group of Scandinavians in northeast Minneapolis, and by December of 1924, this group became a recognized Lutheran assembly. After a number of years the congregation moved to a small church on the corner of 26 th and McKinley Street N.E... We are not content with the cultural perception of Christianity, and we are deeply dissatisfied with the ways in which followers of Jesus have rightly earned a negative reputation in the public square. So, through the non-stop presence of thoughtful and intentional gospel neighboring, we are re-writing the Christian stereotypes that exist among our friends, neighbors, coworkers, and classmates, and at every opportunity we are inviting them into the life-giving way of Jesus.
