Right after high school, and shortly into college to study criminal justice, I was doing data entry work in the IT department for a clothing retailer when I decided I needed to ask for a raise. My boss got out her calculator to do simple math and calculated the percentage on the increase incorrectly - and based upon her improper calculation, wouldn't justify my raise. That day, I KNEW it was time to move on...
I went to the UCI job board and choose the data entry job with the highest per hour rate. It turned out to be for two young gentlemen who were starting a direct marketing company. It wasn't long before I was doing a lot more than just data entry. I discovered marketing. My passion. Not only did I learn marketing, but I also learned how to run a business. I earned my MBA and started down the career path that was REALLY meant to be.
