WASTE

This is to advise that the North East Waste Management Region has commenced an evaluation of the North East Region Waste Management Plan 2005 - 2010 and, consequent on this evaluation, the Plan will be revised or replaced as necessary to comply with the Waste Framework Directive (2008/98/EC) transposed through European Communities (Waste Directive) Regulations 2011 (S.I. 126 of 2011). The existing North East Region Waste Management Plan 2005 - 2010 must be evaluated by 31 December 2012... The subsequent revision or replacement of waste management plans will require Strategic Environmental Assessment and will have regard to the Appropriate Assessment requirements under Article 6 of the Habitats Directive (92/43/EEC)... The requirement for the Strategic Environmental Assessment of Waste Management Plans arises out of the Strategic Environmental Assessment Directive 2001/42/EC as transposed through European Communities (Environmental Assessment of Certain Plans and Programmes)..
