Anna Farquharson

Anna joined Sprake & Kingsley LLP in 2022 and is a Partner working in our Property Department. Anna qualified and worked in London as a criminal defence lawyer - a role she continued after she moved to Norwich, later becoming a property lawyer. Anna has a wealth of experience assisting clients with all types of property matters, having worked in East Anglia for more than 20 years.

David Sprake

David who was the firm's Managing Partner until September 2022, entered the law continuing a family tradition stretching back more than a century. His great-grandfather Humphrey, grandfather Percy and father John were all involved in the firm. David qualified in 1980 and is the firm's lead Agricultural specialist and a farmer himself. He is a member of the Agricultural Law Association and is a Trusts and Estate Practitioner. David has always been involved with the local community and currently chairs the Outney Common Owners and is Company Secretary to The Bungay Castle Trust.

Frances Davy

Frances is a Partner and Private Client solicitor with over 30 years' experience in legal practice and heads our Private Client Team. Frances holds specialist qualifications and is a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly (SFE), a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), and a member of ACTAPS (the Association of Contentious Trust & Probate Specialists). Frances handles complex and high value estates, as well as looking after the lifetime affairs of her clients, particularly those who are in later life or who are more vulnerable. because of illness or incapacity. She believes in a holistic approach to advising her clients, mindful that seeing the person as a whole often achieves more than simply looking at a legal matter in isolation. Frances works closely with Jenny George and Sarah Riley in all matters concerning the long-term care of the elderly including estate planning, wills, powers of attorney and Court of Protection matters as well as in the administration of estates. Frances also works alongside Karen Phillips on inheritance disputes and claims where they combine their probate and dispute resolution experience to achieve practical outcomes for their clients.

Jennifer George

The firm, its solicitors and all fee earners are only qualified to advise on English Law within the jurisdiction of England & Wales Jennifer qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 1994. She is an accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly and a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Jennifer has previously run her own legal business. She has a passion for older client care. She is one of the Lawyers who contributes to the Age UK legal rota and has offered this service for some considerable years.

John Hay

John joined Sprake & Kingsley on qualification in 2002 and is a Partner in the firm's Property team. He is responsible for the firm's membership of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS), which is a recognized quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. He is also responsible for the firm's Lender Panel membership. John handles a variety of property-related work including high value transactions. He also advises both sellers and buyers on complex development transactions. John lives locally and is actively involved with the local community as well as being passionate about cars and motorsport at all levels.

Karen Phillips

Karen qualified in 1990 and joined the firm in 1995. She acts for both company and personal clients with litigation problems and in dispute resolution. Karen is part of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution team. She is also the firm's lead Employment specialist and holds a postgraduate Advanced Certificate in Employment Law. Karen advises clients in relation to business transactions, particularly where there are TUPE and other employment considerations. She also works with Frances Davy on inheritance disputes. Karen is a trained collaborative lawyer and is able to help clients benefit from the collaborative approach in resolving family disputes in appropriate cases. Karen holds the BIIAB National Certificate for Personal Licence Holder and is a member of RESOLUTION and the Norfolk branch of The Good Divorce Group.

Nick Kingsley

Nick started work in the law in London in 1974. He qualified as a solicitor in 1980 and was a partner with a leading Dereham firm before joining David Sprake in 1992. A few years later the firm became Sprake & Kingsley. Nick was one of the firm's Partners until September 2022, and is a litigator and property lawyer with extensive experience of civil proceedings across a wide range of areas including commercial contracts and property related matters. Following his retirement as a partner, Nick continues to work with the firm as a consultant.

Rachel Gohil

Rachel joined Sprake & Kingsley in 2004 as an assistant to David Sprake. Since joining the firm she has obtained a Certificate in Land Registration Law and Practice from The University of Law and successfully completed a Level 3 Certificate in Law and Practice from the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives. Rachel is currently studying to become a Licenced Conveyancer. Rachel has a wealth of conveyancing experience in residential property sales and purchases including residential leasehold, remortgages, transfers of equity, voluntary registration and agricultural transactions having assisted David Sprake for over 18 years.

Sarah Riley

Sarah specializes in probate, preparing wills, probate applications and administering estates. Sarah joined the firm in 2021 having qualified as a Solicitor in 1994 and is an associate member of Solicitors for the Elderly. She has a wealth of experience advising clients having worked previously for various firms in East Anglia.

Wendy Machon

Wendy joined Sprake & Kingsley in 2013 as an assistant to David Sprake. She is a Chartered Legal Executive having qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1992. Wendy worked in personal injury litigation for Norwich Union (now AVIVA) in the early days and for the last twenty years has worked in the private client departments at a number of local law firms In 2018 Wendy completed the Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners Diploma and in May 2019 became a full member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
