Alex Webb

Alex has been in professional practice for over 10 years, and qualified with a medium sized practice in Glasgow before joining Milne Craig in 2011. Alex has significant audit experience within a range if sectors, and gained Responsible Individual (RI) status in 2018. He is responsible for a mixed portfolio of audit clients, which includes several charities. In addition, Alex provides additional accountancy and advisory support services to a number of non-audit clients both locally and nationally.

Craig qualified with Milne Craig in 2004 before taking up various roles in professional practice, industry and latterly corporate banking - where he still maintains he was one of the "good guys". Craig returned to the firm in 2013 where he now services a wide SME client base. When client duties allow he can be found on various parts of the golf course or fly fishing for salmon (one of these day he might even catch one!).

Dean Fallon

Dean Fallon, Chartered, ACII, PMI (AC) has worked in the financial services industry for over 30 years. His early career was spent with two large Scottish insurers, Standard Life and Scottish Amicable. He then spent 12 years with AON heading up their Glasgow operation followed by 7 years at Mattioli Woods where he established a successful Glasgow office. Dean has been a Chartered Financial Planner for almost 20 years and has gained the Pensions Management Certificate in Auto Enrolment and workplace pensions. His wide skill set reaches across Wealth Management, financial advice and employee benefits. Dean can often be seen running around the highways and byways of North Glasgow or the West Highland Way and enjoys the challenge of climbing a hill or skiing down one! Donald Parbrook

Donald heads up the Milne Craig tax practice. There are 20 professionals working within the tax function focusing on cost effective tax compliance coupled with dynamic high quality tax planning. Donald trained in the early 90s with a big 4 firm in London before returning home to Scotland. He joined the firm in 2000 and has substantial experience in tax planning for privately owned businesses. He also supports the other partners with the necessary tax aspects of transactions, tax planning for individuals and HMRC enquiries.

Eileen Cochrane

Eileen has been in professional practice for over 15 years and became an Associate of the firm following the merger with Wylie Frame in 2004. Eileen specialises in the technical aspects of preparation and audit of statutory accounts of SME's and Charities and accounting issues for partnerships and sole traders. Through regular contact with clients she enjoys helping with any accounting problems which may arise from time to time.

Graeme Smith

Graeme has been in financial services since 2006. He has provided financial advice in large firms including as a wealth manager for high net worth individuals within a large Private Bank. He holds advanced qualifications in Financial Planning, Wealth Management and pension advice. Graeme is an Associate member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and holds the title of Chartered Financial Planner with them. He is also a full member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment where he continues to further his learning.

Iain Thomson

Iain is an associate in the tax department and joined the firm in 2015. Iain qualified as a chartered accountant in 1993 with a small Glasgow firm before moving to a Big 4 firm in 1995 to specialise in tax. In 2000 he moved to a medium sized national firm where he continued his development. He provides tax advice to mainly small and medium sized businesses and their owners and deals with a wide variety of tax issues, including buying and selling companies, R&D tax relief claims, tax investigations and succession planning. He also advises charities, housing associations and not for profit organisations. Recently he has been advising clients about the filing requirements of HM Revenue & Customs new flagship strategy Making Tax Digital that requires clients to store data electronically and file quarterly returns.

Karen Morrison

Karen is head of our personal tax team. Karen spent many years advising and supporting business owners and other individuals whilst working within a "big 4" firm before moving on to work with a rival mid-sized firm. She is always happy to speak to new clients about all aspects of their personal tax affairs including income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax. Karen is a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Tax Adviser.

Kate Brown

Kate is the director of our financial services division heading up a growing team of over fifteen dedicated individuals. She holds the prestigious Chartered Financial Planner qualification and is also an Associate of the Personal Finance Society. Kate has been with Milne Craig since 1995, previously working with Ernst and Young. Kate and her team offer detailed personal reviews and advice on retirement planning, with particular emphasis on owner managed businesses. We provide a full review service and cash flow planning for individuals mapping out their financial journey. The team has considerable experience in property based SIPP work for family business opportunities and advising businesses on corporate benefit packages to encourage staff retention.

Kirsty Mackie

Kirsty has been in professional practice for over 16 years and joined Milne Craig as an Associate in 2018, having originally trained with Deloitte LLP and qualifying as a CA with ICAS in 2006. Kirsty handles a mixed portfolio of clients including many of the firm's key audit clients. Kirsty has extensive experience in audit related assignments in a wide range of industries including banking and investment funds. In addition Kirsty also acts as audit compliance partner.

Leigh Munro

Leigh has been in professional practice for over 20 years having joined Milne Craig in 2003 after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant with ICAS. She has been in practice since she qualified and has significant expertise of small and medium sized businesses covering a wide range of industries. She likes to be proactive and strives to maintain and develop strong relationships with her clients.

Lesley Boyle

Lesley is a director in the Audit, Accountancy and Corporate Services department. She has been in public practice since she qualified as an Accountant in 1989. She trained with Alexander Sloan C.A., one of Scotland's oldest standing independent firms, and joined Milne Craig in 2003, becoming an associate in 2008 and a Director in 2019. Lesley provides a full spectrum of accounting and advisory services to SME and owner-managed businesses across a range of industries from manufacturing and engineering to property, wholesale and retail. She takes a hands-on approach and provides pro-active advice to her clients by developing and maintaining close long standing relationships. In addition to her accounting and business expertise, Lesley also undertakes company secretarial work for clients. Outwith her client responsibilities, Lesley is also currently a member of the AML compliance team within the firm and the company secretary of a large local charitable organisation. Lesley is a fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA).

Mark Connelly

Mark has been in the financial services industry for over 30 years and previously worked as a financial planner to clients of a large Glasgow solicitor firm. He is an Associate of the Pensions Management Institute and also holds the Advanced qualification in Taxation and Trusts. Mark is an Associate member of the Personal Finance Society and holds the title of Chartered Financial Planner. Mark provides pensions and investment advice at various life cycles stages, including initial funding, redundancy, retirement, divorce and death. This includes protection and preservation of wealth for individuals (via Inheritance Tax Planning and Life Assurance) as well as companies (Shareholder protection and key man insurance). As a Kilmarnock Football Club season ticket holder, he is used to challenging situations!

Maureen Wylie

Maureen is a Chartered Accountant and an Associate of the Firm who has been involved in professional practice for over 40 years. During that time, Maureen has worked very closely with a number of clients preparing Trading and Cash Flow Projections, principally for business planning and budgetary purposes but also for the raising of finance to fund expansion and acquisitions. Maureen has also regularly advised clients on various accounting matters. More recently, Maureen was appointed as the Firm's Cashier and is now actively involved in the day-to-day financial operations of the Firm.

Michael Nolan

Michael is an associate in the tax department and joined the firm in 2003. Other than 3 years back in the City with Grant Thornton, he has been with the firm ever since. Michael began his career in tax in 1995 with Coopers & Lybrand before moving to Ernst & Young. He specialises in advising owner managed businesses, and their owners, on a wide range of tax matters including acquisitions and disposals, reorganisations, tax investigations and tax compliance. Michael also specialises in capital allowances and undertook a series of seminars with a number of our solicitor clients to advise them on the complex rules regarding capital allowances for fixtures in property transactions. The rules are such that a failure to deal with capital allowances at the time of the transaction can lead to little or no capital allowances being available for the purchaser and a potential claw back of allowances previously claimed by the vendor. Away from work, Michael's time is largely taken up following his sons' sporting exploits or walking his dog. Although both of Michael's sons originally played football, with Michael helping out with coaching, they converted to rugby a few years ago and never looked back.

She joined Milne Craig in 2007 having previously spent 12 years as an adviser within a busy legal practice and 7 years looking after high net worth clients for a multinational IFA. Morag gained the prestigious Chartered Financial Planner title and is an Associate of the Financial Planning Society. Morag specialises in the provision of retirement and wealth management planning from a holistic perspective but is also qualified to provide advice in relation to long-term care planning, power of attorney, guardianship and other trust cases. She also holds the Society of Law Accountants in Scotland certificate.

Paul Craig

Paul has been in professional practice since 1990. Starting out in a sole practitioner firm, he has developed a broad spectrum of experience from the nuts and bolts of accounting to audit and complex corporate finance assignments. Paul qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1997. In 2010 he passed the Insolvency Practitioner (JIEB) exams and the knowledge of insolvency has been of great benefit in advisory assignments. In addition to leading a varied portfolio of audit and accounts clients, he often manages corporate finance assignments. Experience in corporate finance includes mergers, acquisitions, disposals, MBI, MBO, funding, high growth start-ups, due diligence, valuations and other business advisory services. Paul is passionate about protecting clients' interests and his role as trusted adviser.

Paul Thompson

Paul qualified as a Chartered Accountant with ICAS in 1990 and has over 30 years' experience, working in both private practice and in industry. He has a broad base of experience working in a variety of sectors, but particularly property, construction, manufacturing and the general commercial sector. He worked for 9 years in industry, for a construction services company, where he was brought in to run the business, and was responsible for growing the company culminating in a very successful sale. Paul has excellent commercial awareness and business development skills from experience gained both in the profession and from working in industry. He uses this experience to help our clients by assisting them in growing and improving their businesses. His current clients include many second and third generation businesses where he has advised and guided shareholders through many exit strategies, including management buy-outs and share buy-backs, whilst ensuring it is business as usual for the companies.

Scott Hunter

Scott joined the firm in 2007 after spending the first two years after graduating from University with a BAcc (Hons) degree in Accountancy with a small firm in Glasgow. He completed his accountancy training with Milne Craig and qualified as an ACCA in 2008. After qualifying he was quickly promoted to Audit Manager in 2010 and then to an Associate in the Audit and Accountancy department in 2014. Scott was appointed as a Director in June 2021. Scott provides audit, accountancy and advisory services to a varied client portfolio of local and national businesses. Scott's role involves the coordination of all aspects of service delivery including project, relationship and financial management. From owner managed businesses and limited companies, he has expertise across a wide range of sectors, including professional services, manufacturing & engineering, construction and hospitality. Scott is also heavily involved in working with a range of new and established SME's to recognise their growth potential through the provision of management reporting, valuations and projections. In particular, he provides support in change management for clients who implement new accounting systems and processes to create efficiencies and better information reporting.

William Vernall

William has been in professional practice since 1999 and qualified as a CA in 2003. He became an Associate of the firm following the merger with Cook & Co in 2018 and he has responsible individual status with ICAS. William works with a wide range of charitable organisations on both independent examination and audit assignments. These include charities involved in social care service provision, childcare and the arts. He also has significant experience in dealing with commercial clients, including those operating in the retail and manufacturing sectors. In addition, William acts as company secretary for a high profile Scottish charity.
