Abdul Samed Zurak is the Chief Executive Officer of Zurak Cancer Foundation; a policy oriented and service delivery NGO providing innovative solutions to cancer prevalence in Ghana through education, awareness and free screening programs in slums and hard to reach and rural communities. He was selected as the 2017 Johnson & Johnson Scholar in order to continue his work scaling Zurak Cancer Foundation and maximize its impact. He is currently working on initiatives such as Cervicus Hackathon; a competition for young girls in slums to develop innovative solution to cervical cancer prevalence in their community. Abdul was a Johnson & Johnson One Young World Scholar in 2017.

Currently, along with a talented group of editors, reporters, and communicators, he is driving growth around the news platform through partnerships with organizations working on the SDGs and social good - aid agencies, major corporations, leading NGOs and everyone in-between. Through events, visual stories, special reports and more, Devex partnerships help drive the development agenda and create awareness on key global issues - from disability inclusive development, to health worker safety, to inclusive food systems and much, much more. Connecting those dots is what makes Alan tick. In the early days of Devex, Alan focused mostly on helping to build the membership around funding opportunities and development jobs, leading the effort to grow it from zero to more than a thousand of the leading organizations working in development. Prior to helping start Devex , he worked in government affairs in Washington DC and in politics and local government in New Jersey. Alan has a graduate degree in international affairs from George Washington University and an undergraduate degree in history and political science from Rutgers University. In his spare time, you can find him reading historical biographies, coaching his sons' baseball and basketball teams and lamenting no longer being the tallest in the family.

Anna Gawel is the managing editor of Devex. She previously worked as the managing editor of The Washington Diplomat, the flagship publication of D.C.'s diplomatic community. She has had hundreds of articles published on world affairs, U.S. foreign policy, politics, security, trade, travel and the arts on topics ranging from the impact of State Department budget cuts to Caribbean efforts to fight climate change. She was also a broadcast producer and digital editor at WTOP News and host of the Global 360 podcast. She holds a journalism degree from the University of Maryland in College Park.

While finishing her degree in Spanish, Ashlea she wanted to expand her knowledge and moved to Latin America. She pursued a career in international education, working with university students from across the globe to find international internships. Three years later, her desire to make a bigger impact led her to Devex to help our members find the services they need. As part of the Memberships team, Ashlea helps our members find the services their organizations need. Before Devex, Ashlea worked in international education in Santiago, Chile. Being inspired by her own travels, she wanted to help others have the same experience through international internships. She then pursued her Masters in Translation and has always been passionate about learning languages. She believes that the more languages she can speak, the more people she can talk to, which brings her joy. Now returning to the USA, Ashlea still holds permanent residency in Chile and is interested in what is happening in development in Latin America. When she is not working, you can find her reading her kindle, which she always has with her, running with her dog, listening to live music, or going to the beach. Aya Mouallem

Aya is a 20 year-old electrical and computer engineering undergrad student, co-founder, and young leader. She was named a Google Woman Techmaker and is currently a Women Deliver Young Leader and Stanford She++ Ambassador. Aya's interests in coding, robotics, and women's empowerment inspired her to co-found All Girls Code, an initiative immersing young females in Lebanon from diverse backgrounds in free STEM programs. So far, Aya's greatest pride is that 90% of All Girls Code's graduates have pursued tech-related majors at university.

Damien Dillon

Daniel Sager - CTO

She has always dreamed of working for an international organization or a diplomatic mission, she feels like it is her way to contribute to the global development community. She is one of the newest members of the news production team, but before joining the news team she worked for the Data Collections Team for 3 years. During that period, she learned about how the development business works and she gained valuable knowledge about the procurement cycle, navigation of donor websites, and she even had the chance to do data analysis which was later published into an article. Her new job as a content manager introduced her to a new set of skills and gave her up-to-date information about global development news. Now, she is in charge of drafting a few of the newsletters that are being sent out to members daily and she is also part of the team that sources photos that best suit the articles that is being featured in the Devex homepage. During her day off, she spends quality time with her family and her dogs. She has to admit that she is more of a dog person, since for her dogs are much more affectionate than cats, but she thinks both of them are cute. She currently has 9 dogs, she only gets to spend time with them during the weekends, on weekdays her mother usually takes care of her dogs. She also has great interests in cooking, she is confident in experimenting with Asian flavors since it is what she is used to eating, that type of food that she cooks are mostly Filipino, Japanese and Korean foods.

Jason is Co-founder and EVP of Devex, the media platform for the global development community, where he leads operations. He's interested in what makes businesses focused on impact successful-and the culture, systems and teams that make them work. Jason is part of the executive team that has led Devex through several important phases of growth. Previously, he was responsible for design of the Devex recruitment and funding marketplace product which sparked an industry movement to improve the discoverability of funding, job and candidate data to make development projects more competitive. He led the effort to reposition Devex as part of the social enterprise's expansion into a full-fledged news organization and has been responsible for the development and successful launch of new business lines including its first paid news subscription, Devex Pro. Jason believes in the power of connecting the right person with the right organization (and job). He's currently writing about what he calls the SDG Talent Gap and how to connect more individuals to careers with impact during this Decade of Action. After nearly a decade in Washington, D.C., she is fulfilling a lifelong dream of living abroad by working in Devex's Barcelona office helping people do good around the world. In Jenni's current role she leads the creation of custom advertising campaigns for Devex's partners - from universities to service providers - helping them amplify their reach and position them as thought leaders among our niche audience of a million global development professionals. From sixth grade, when she first traveled internationally on a student ambassador trip, Jenni knew she wanted a career in development. She just didn't know such a career existed until she moved to D.C., and dove into roles with the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition, Modernizing Foreign Assistance Network, and Deloitte, where, as a senior associate, she executed marketing plans and sponsorships in support of business development, including the redesign and launch of their emerging markets website. Named as one of the 2012 "Top 99 Under 33 Foreign Policy Leaders" by the Diplomatic Courier, Jenni's passion for a better world makes her a powerful part of the Devex Partnerships team. Tania Karas is a Senior Editor at Devex, where she edits coverage on global development and humanitarian aid in the Americas. Previously, she managed the digital team for The World, where she oversaw content production for the website, podcast, newsletter, and social media platforms. Tania also spent three years as a foreign correspondent in Greece, Turkey, and Lebanon, covering the Syrian refugee crisis and European politics. She started her career as a staff reporter for the New York Law Journal, covering immigration and access to justice.

Tom Cserep

Tom joined Devex in 2022 as a Communications Specialist. Coming from a background in football journalism, he is a member of the audience growth team that aims to increase Devex's presence on social media and he supports the development of different communication strategies. Outside of work Tom enjoys getting involved with freelance writing, music production and film projects, as well as going on long-distance runs around the world.

Trang Le

Trang is currently conducting her PhD research on Vietnamese social workers' attitudes and practices with sexual minorities, aiming to increase knowledge on sexual minorities and promoting culturally competent services for LGBTQI clients in Vietnam. She's the founder of ‘SOS: Sharing of Stories - The Silenced Speak Up', a platform where young Vietnamese people, especially disadvantaged minority groups, share their stories regarding sexual and reproductive health. She's been named as one of the World Contraception Day Ambassadors for her work in advancing women' sexual and reproductive rights.

Unami Jeremiah

Unami has previously worked as a Young women's coordinator at the World YWCA in Geneva where she worked on women's advocacy in leadership and empowerment. She was awarded a seed grant by Women Deliver as a selected Youth leader to lead Project Unbreakable; a sexual harassment awareness campaign at the University of Botswana. Her work focuses on advancing the inclusiveness of women and girls' in political leadership and economic decision-making and hopes to join the Botswana parliament as a policy maker in her lifetime.

Valeria del Castillo

Originally from Mexico City but has lived in different countries such as Canada, France, Switzerland and Scotland. She holds a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and a MSc in Cultural Studies from the University of Edinburgh. She focused my graduate studies in understanding visual culture, street art, urbanism and the use of photography as a tool of research. During her free time, she enjoys walking, photographing and exploring cities around the world. She is always looking for street art because it gives her a hint about the city's cultural sphere.

Vince Chadwick

Vince Chadwick is Devex's Brussels correspondent, tracking EU institutions, member states, and European civil society. A law graduate from Melbourne, Australia, he was social affairs reporter for The Age newspaper, before moving to Europe in 2013. He covered breaking news, the arts and public policy across the continent, including as a reporter and editor at POLITICO Europe.
