Anthony Williams leads the IU Police Department's law enforcement operations on all nine campuses throughout the state. He works directly with the IU Public Safety superintendent to set performance standards for the department; and develop, recommend, and implement policies and procedures for law enforcement and public safety activities on every IU campus.
Before joining the IUPD on Aug.1, 2024, Williams served as police lieutenant of operations at Northwest Missouri State University Police Department for nearly 15 years. During his time there, he expanded the department's mental health initiatives, strengthening its crisis response and partnering with a third-party agency to embed a licensed counselor who serves the department and the campus community. He also led efforts to advance the department's culture by increasing community-oriented programs, deepening student engagement and strengthening ties with campus organizations.

Benjamin Hunter is the associate vice president for Indiana University Public Safety. He has a deep interest in community policing, something he developed while working as a community liaison for three different deputy police chiefs at what is now the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
As a member of the senior staff of IU's Chief Operating Officer, Hunter oversees and advises university leadership on strategy, policy and execution for a variety of areas designed to maintain an appropriate level of assurance in university operations and activities: emergency preparedness and response, administrative and academic continuity, policing and community safety, homeland security, emergency communications, university event management, and environmental health and safety. As superintendent, he is responsible for comprehensive strategy, policy and practices for public safety across IU, including the IU Police Department, which has more than 200 sworn officers across all IU campuses. He also is responsible for the IU Police Academy.
Before returning to IU in 2017, he was executive director of public safety, community relations and government affairs at Butler University, where he also served for a period as chief of staff to Butler University President James M. Danko. His law enforcement career started with the IU Police Department; he then spent 10 years with the Indianapolis Police Department before his transition to higher education law enforcement at Butler.

Seifers oversees Administration and Support Services, which includes oversight of the IU Police Academy, statewide training, as well as the 911 Dispatch Communications Center. One of his main priorities is to fully implement the community policing strategic framework issued by IUPD in 2020 and updated in 2025, which is based on President Obama's 21 st Century Policing Report. Another key area of focus is the continued implementation of recommendations from the 2018 De-escalation and Training Commission report, which covers topics such as de-escalation training, data transparency, and adherence to national best practices in the areas of policy and general orders.
From 2018 until February 2021, Seifers served as university director of Emergency Management and Continuity, leading a team that has been instrumental in facilitating IU's internal response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Seifers' career has spanned the fields of law enforcement, emergency management, and the military. He began his law enforcement journey as an IUPD cadet in 1993. From 1995 to 2018, Seifers was a member of the Marion County, Indiana, and Bloomington, Indiana, police departments. At Bloomington Police Department, he was a lieutenant in the investigation division. While a police officer and supervisor, he worked on his graduate degree in performance improvement and obtained various instructor certifications.
Seifers has served in the military for more than 28 years. A command sergeant major in the United States Army National Guard, he served in Bosnia, Iraq, and domestically during Hurricane Katrina.

Eric Mayo is the Director for Information Technology & Systems for IU Public Safety. His duties involve working toward common operating efficiencies and standardization projects, procurement, and implementation of law enforcement equipment, computer hardware, and software that is used by the seven divisions of the IU Police Department. Mayo supervises dispatch personnel, IUPD statewide voice and data communications systems that serve the IU campuses, providing police dispatching and emergency services response.
Mayo began his IUPD career in 1999, joining the IU Police Cadet Officer Program. He graduated from the IU Police Academy in 2000 and is now a member of the training cadre at the IU Police Academy as a certified STOPS Instructor.

Heather Braun began her role as the director for accreditation and strategy with the rank of major in July of 2022. In this role she leads IUPD's efforts in developing and editing IUPD's policies to meet national accreditation standards with the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA). She also participates in other organizational strategic planning.
Braun began her law enforcement career by joining the IUPD cadet program in 2008 and graduated the IU Police Academy in 2009. Since then, Braun has moved up the ranks and has served in a variety of roles with IUPD including patrol officer, interim public safety support manager, sergeant, and lieutenant. For more than eight years, Braun was responsible for Clery Act compliance for IU Indianapolis, IU Columbus, IUFW, and IUSM. During this time she served on many committees for a variety of initiatives and developed collaborative working relationships with many campus partners in efforts to enhance IU's overall Clery Act compliance. An active member of the National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals, Braun serves on the annual conference advisory committee, research committee, and as a mentor for the Clery Compliance Officer certification program. Braun is also the recipient of numerous awards as a student and law enforcement professional.

Kathryn Manteuffel became university director for IU Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) in September 2021. In this role, she provides direction for EHS across all Indiana University campuses, including oversight of EHS service contracts with IU Health (Riley, Methodist, and University Hospital) and Eskenazi Hospital. She oversees 60 staff members across the 17 IU academic and medical campuses in the areas of Public Health, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Management, Laboratory Safety, Radiation Safety, and Biological Safety.
Prior to this most recent appointment, Manteuffel served IU as associate university director for EHS, providing leadership and operational oversight for the development of policy, strategy and comprehensive support of programs for EHS for all Indiana University campuses toward the overarching goal of protecting the university community and the natural environment, while ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, rules and regulations.
Manteuffel has also served as regional director of EHS, providing leadership and oversight for all of IU's regional campuses (IU East, IU Kokomo, IU Northwest, IU Southeast and IU South Bend).
She has been employed by Indiana University since 1995.

IU South Bend Division Chief Kurt Matz rejoined the Indiana University Police Department in September of 2016. Matz began his career in law enforcement at the Northwest Division of IUPD and graduated with honors from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Shortly after this, Matz joined the Munster Indiana Police Department, where he rose through the ranks. Matz eventually earned the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Patrol Division Commander until retiring with 32 years of service. Throughout his career Matz focused on police training and is a certified instructor. Matz also specializes emergency and incident management.

Leslie Slone serves as the Director for Safety and Security for IU Public Safety. In this role, she utilizes Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design concepts and practices to create physical security designs to enhance the safety and security of IU community members and facilities. These efforts often involve working collaboratively with IU architects, facilities operations personnel, facilities occupants, and IUPD to understand physical and situational vulnerabilities and develop strategies to reduce or remove them.
Prior to working directly in physical security, Leslie was a member of the IU Police Department for 25 years. During this time, she enjoyed being part of a series of firsts, such as the Police Mountain Bike Patrol Team, Field Training Officer program, and first female Detective Sergeant. She was an Adjunct Instructor for Ivy Tech Community College for 18 years and was an Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board Instructor, teaching in the IU Police Academy for 18 years. Pivotally, Leslie received substantial training in crime prevention and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, studying the latter with renowned criminologist, author, and former director of the National Crime Prevention Institute, Timothy Crowe.

Bennett's distinguished career in law enforcement spans 45 years with more than 21 years in higher education policing having served for 10 years as the Chief of Police at the University of California Police Department in Berkeley following more than a decade of service with the FBI.

Stephen Miller was a 15-year veteran of IUPD at IU Southeast when he became chief in September 2017. His nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience include 13 years with the New York City Police Department. His areas of expertise and training are extensive and include criminal investigations, sex crimes investigations, homicide investigations, hostage negotiations, incident response to terrorist bombings and dignitary protection.

As the senior director for public safety at Indiana University, Steve Adams advises on strategic and operational issues. He collaborates closely with IU Public Safety's senior leadership and other colleagues, particularly from the areas of finance, human resources, and other administrative shared services at the university, to facilitate the advancement of strategic initiatives and policy priorities supporting the greatest degree of safety for all members of the IU community.
A graduate of IU, Steve returned to his alma mater in 2014 bringing over two decades of experience from the private non-profit sector and government. While serving at Hoosier Uplands Economic Development Corporation, he focused on health care access improvements and provided strategic development leadership throughout several Indiana communities. Steve's public service included an appointment as the chief operating officer for the Indiana Lieutenant Governor's Office, where he contributed to the development of enhanced business operations. In addition, during his nearly decade-long service with the State of Indiana, he assisted in implementing modernization of public and child welfare systems.

Tricia Edwards is the director for IUPD Dispatch Communications Center. She started her career in law enforcement by joining the IU Police Department's cadet officer program in 1999. She has since worked her way to becoming a dispatch supervisor and now director of the 911 center. Tricia serves on the IU Indianapolis Staff Council as first vice president. She is a law enforcement instructor certified by the Indiana Law Enforcement Training board.
